Chromehouds demo is on XBL, just not in North America..??

Sega's signed an exclusive agreement with a North American magazine for the demo so it's not availalbe on our Live as of yet.

Workaround? Create a Silver account and put in anything but Canada or the US as your Country. Problem solved.

*edit* Downloading the demo now with an account with the UK as my country. =)

I've tried one of the 2 singlep layer scenarios from the demo. Nothing there was worth really salivating about. I'll try the 2nd one and we'll see.

Apparently the real strength of this title is the multi-player squad based combat but for someone who isn't huge into console multiplayer or customizing the shit out of things, this probably isn't going to be one of my favorite titles.

So I played through the demo 2-3 times and have been reading up on this and get interested enough to buy it last friday.

I haven't gone to play online yet however I have played through the first 2 scenarios of single player(Soldier and Sniper) so I get a good feel for the game and it's different roles that players can fill.

The war has already been won 7 times and the battling seems to be going pretty fiercly.

Here's the page that updates dynamically depending on what's going on in-game.

http://www.sega.com/gamesite/chromehoun ... rboard.php

I already setup an online profile and joined Tarakia. Still not in a squad yet though.

I've gained enough parts right now through SP to build myself my own hound in the garage however if you want to jump into MP immediatly, a Hound will be lent to you depending on the role you want to try out.

This is more of a SIm that a MechAssault type arcade game FYI. Mechs other than sounts don't move really really fast just so you all know.

I have been wondering about this game. I have been very tempted to pick it up this weekend. I would have done it yesterday if I weren't out running around with my niece.

The thing with this game is that it's essentially a very "love it or hate it" game.

People that are more into fast paced games will hate this. People who are into strategic combat sims will love it.

It ain't for everyone that's for sure. TeamXbox gave it an 8.7/10( http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/11 ... hounds/p1/ ) and Eurogamer gave it a 4/10( http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=65927 ).

Gamespot is at a 79 and a review that's pretty much spot on and looks at the whole package instead of individual parts.( http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/ ... id=6154008 )

hmm, I guess I might need to go the "non-US" Live ID route to grab the demo.

I haven't even touched the multiplayer section of it yet and I'm having a blast.

Gonna do the Heavy Gunner part tonight.

With your continued disappointment over 360 games, I'd recommend you not go buy anything unless you can play the demo first. If the dem isn't available, don't buy the game. $60.00 gamble otherwise.

I've heard from people on this forum though that every single PS3 game is going to be fab-fucking-tastic so I'd start pre-ording those games for late 2008.

I don't post rumors!

Check this out. If this happens, you'll be able to pick up an HD-DVD Xbox 360 premium combo for around 450.00...150.00 less than the HDMI PS3...or screw the HD/Blu Ray crap and just play games with a premium 360 for 300.00 less than a PS3. :!: ...it's like getting five free 60.00 games if you buy a 360 as opposed to PS3.
MS Denies 360 Price Drop

>> From computerandvideogames.com:

Rumours have swirled out of the Taiwanese OEM market this morning that Microsoft is planning a huge $100 price drop on the Xbox 360 this Christmas, as a direct response to the launch of Sony's PlayStation 3.

Microsoft Taiwan has apparently moved swiftly to scotch the rumours, with spokeswoman Freda Lee saying "We do not have plans to lower the price of the Xbox 360 before the end of the year." However, seasoned MS watchers should be taking both sides' statements with more than a pinch of salt. On the one hand, the OEM rumours would seem to be just that - rumours - as there's no way the Redmond giant would commit to any definitive price drop this early in the piece.
Yet on the other hand, MS Taiwan 'protests too much we think' to misquote the bard. It's more than conceivable, indeed some would say extremely likely, that MS will drop its Xbox 360 price in response to the Sony launch, especially in eastern markets where the 360 has failed to make significant inroads into the games-playing public's affections.

...compared to the three shitty games you'll pay another 180.00 for with your shiny new PS3? ...the rest being available on either platform. I'm guessing those three games won't be the ones that bored everyone to tears at Sony's PS3 E3 displays this year.

Maybe a special half price rendered movie blu ray disk will come out at the PS2 launch party for their soon-to-be-released games.

I grabbed the demo last night and it was pretty nice. I wish they would have included something for multiplayer with it as well since it sounds like it's pretty nice. Some XBL games get multiplayer right (Over G Fighters, Burnout: Revenge, etc.), and then other games just have too much latency to be playable (FIFA World Cup 2006).

The Scout and Heavy Gunner missions have been my favorite thus far in the single player section of the game. Heavy Gunner is hard RT to play since you havta really extrapolate the travectory of your howitzers based on the distance between you and the target.

Yeah, I noticed that the missiles on the Soldier hound were affected by gravity when I was messing around in the demo, I can only imagine how much it would play a role when trying to aim the big guns.

Luckly, there's a display when you go into weapon camera view on the big guns that gives est. distance that the current arc you're looking at will travel.

This can get a bit tricky when the enemy is moving yet your weapon camera is looking at the sky. I find myself getting out of weapon cam to move my weapons quickly then getting back to weapon cam when I'm close to target.

I don't blame it so much on the 360 I guess. I'm just disapointed in this whole "next generation" bullshit and what a hilarious let down it is. I have a meeting in 3 minutes so I will explain later.

So I'm really into this game. I got through all the Single Player campaigns and got an S rating on all of them and now I've started playing the online part of it(bout 20 hours for all the SP stuff and I've now just racked up 20 or so hours playing online and farting around with the menus and building mechs.).

The shitty part is the fucking kids.
I kid you not, I got into a mission with a few people from <random squad A> that I joined Saturday and all of their ages combined came up to about 8 years over how old I am.
These guys got into the game, started running around everywhere, blowing up our own defensive units and shooting at each other while laughing incessently over the comm. So I go ahead and scout up as best my Soldier mech allows and I come around the ridge face to face with 3 enemy pilots(was the CPU on this particular mission). I proceed to get my ass handed to me, rack up huge repair/ammo expenses and these guys then go on to attempt to fight em. One of em dies cause of his already depleted armor and the other survives long enough for another guy who hadn't said a word the whole game to blow up their base.

Then they go to the main lobby, start talking about Jr. High Football/Backetball and cracking stupid jokes about each other's balls.

At this point I just left the squad, packed it in and went to bed as these little shitheads had given me a massive headache.

The few games that I played with non-tards have been really fun however. I've played as a Soldier, Defender and Tactics Commander and there's a lot here to keep people busy for a good long time.

I think that's the same for several games using XBL. The only two games I haven't run into it on so far were Over G Fighters and FIFA World Cup 2006.

I hear it's especially bad in Halo2. I haven't run into it very much in GRAW but I haven't played it onliine much either.

Would it have been better if it was Jr High Cheerleaders cracking stupid jokes about each other's boobies?
