Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting on XBLA Aug 2nd

Post by Animalor »

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6153857.html

Story basically outlines a new Live Arcade game every week from tomorrow to August 9th.

Frogger comes out tomorrow, Galaga and Pac-Man will also be released in the coming weeks as well.

Ø July 12 – Frogger

Ø July 19 – Cloning Clyde

Ø July 26 – Galaga

Ø August 2 – Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting

Ø August 9 – Pac-Man

I'll be trying em all for sure. SF2 is the only one I plan on getting at this point.

It's kind of sad that Galaga will probably get played on my 360 more than all the other games I have, combined.

i think its cool, but you'll spend a fair amount of money on those games.

i think people will find services like GameTap to be much more bang for their buck. full disclosure, i work there.

Galaga, Pac-Man, 6 Street Fighters, Frogger next week, oh yeah 575 other games, original animation series a bunch of other stuff too.

We've already gotten good PR off of the XBL Arcade. Dean Takahashi from the San Jose Mercury News point blank asked MS in an interview how they can compete w/ our service. Low it.

Anyway, commercial over =)

oh yeah XBox 360 controller (and most USB controllers) works w/ GT!

That would be interesting if I had never heard of emulators. Or had legal qualms about obtaining 20 year old roms.

Does either the Xbox live thing or Gametap let you play 2-4 player games at the same time? If so that would be cool. For example something like Mario Bros with both people playing the same game at once. Although yeah just an example since I doubt Nintendo would license their stuff out like that to MS or Gametap.

With a Live subscription, once you buy these games, they can be played multiplayer.

Street fighter for example has been modified by Capcom to allow Live Head to head multiplayer and an arcade mode where 5 people are in a lobby and the winner keeps playing against people until he/she loses and everyone can talk over the headset.

So I played a bit with the Cloning Cylyde trial this.

Talk about a fun, quirky little puzzle/platformer. I'm not sure what the multiplayer entails but the single player is a very good looking game for a 30-35mb download.

I'll havta find out how long it is overall and that the multiplayer is before I decide to buy it though.

Big announcement coming in a couple weeks regarding XBox Live Arcade. I can't talk about it because I have no idea what it is!

Voro may be out of a job soon though!

Then you have things like there games coming up.

Small Arms ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD7V8vL- ... all%20Arms )

Castle Crashers ( http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/4679 )

Alien Hominid ( http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/4678 )

I'm not afraid for the future of XBLA

(the gamevideos site is real slow for some reason. guess they're getting hammered pretty bad.)

SF2 is out and it's GREAT!

More or less a direct port of the SNES version with achievments, XBox Live online play added. the defualt high Score actually still reads NIN and the Blood is yellow(thx Nintendo anti-blood policy). There's a problem right now where ranked wins/losses aren't recorded so get that practice in.

Single player is a lot f'ing harder than I remember too. Maybe I'm jsut slowing down in my adulthood though =P

Online play was lagless although I got a lot of cases when I tried to join gmaes where the game didn't connect. I think that latency between 2 possible opponents may have to be real low before the game starts.

Worked every time when I hosted though.

Much fun will be had with this one.

I dl'ed that Cloning Clyde game the other day, it was a fun little time waster. Graphics are good, relatively simple gameplay, a little humor to it. I'd definitely recommend checking out the demo if you haven't.

Actuoally I was reading up on it and it seems the version on XBLA is the Genesis/Megadrive version of SF2.

Still, I was always under the impression that nintendo had an anti-violence/snti-blood policy and that Capcom had recolored it.

Ya know what sucks. Outclassed sore losers that give you negative feedback cause you whip their asses.

Shit I didn't even play with cheeze characters like E.Honda and I whipped most people playing with Zangief last night.

Zangief is pretty broken in this version. I played this series religiously and his whole low attack immunity when spinning shit didn't get added until turbo, but it looks like it made it into this port. Theyt also added the chun li fireball, which was not in until turbo, if I recall. The dragon punch nerf from super looks like it got tossed in too, but maybe they put it in during hyper. Can't recall that one much, since I pretty much played mostly vega and chun li during hyper. I wish they had ported super instead, it was a lot more balanced.

And yes, the difficulty was ramped up a little.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Too bad, hope they can update the Zangief-class with a patch.

He is overpowered!

I just played through single player at 7 star difficulty for the acheivment.

Damn that was hard. Took me 63 battles before I won.

Had this been an arcade, it would've cost me 15.75 =)
