Training camps...

Post by masteen »

are around the corner, and the Aints still don't have Reggie Bush signed. My money is on a holdout through the pre-season, last minute contract just in time for him to play Game 1, followed by a nasty injury in Game 5-6 due to lack of conditioning.

Any other NFL Ms. Cleos care to weigh in?

I haven't been following Bush too closely, he still holding out for #1 pick money because he felt like he should have been the #1 pick, even though he wasn't?

The Cardinal's #2 pick signed yesterday (USC Offensive Lineman) I don't really care if Leinart holds out till the start of the season but need to get the fatty lineman in camp and working with the first team soon.

The Cardinals are going places this year! I'm not even being a homer this time. They improved an already great offense by adding Edge as our RB and a high pick OL...and Arizona's defense was already good last year minus the injuries and now we get Rolle back along with 2-3 other key starters and some draft picks that were out last year with injuries.

From a fantasy point of view, the Cardinals have two WR's (Fitz and Boldin) in the top ten and Edge being picked around 5th in the RBs. Best kicker in the league with Neil Rackers (dude kicked 5 field goals two straight games and had three 50+ yard field goals in one game) ALso had mega-long perfect field goal streak last year. New stadium, sold out to CARDINAL fans so you won't have other team fans buying up the tickets as they are already sold out (only 1000 tickets are available for walkup each game) All games will be locally televised (first time ever having more than one game a year sell out...and that was only two of the 15 years they've been in Az).

Go Cardinals!

Seriously...

I think we should have a forum only about Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey that we call the mens' sports forum.

The womens' sports forum could include soccer, cycling, tennis, dress shopping, topless pillow fights, etc.

Oh no, I'm all for them. That's why I'm also for a forum for sports that women participate in, maybe it'd get more topless pillow fight activity that we could all benefit from.

I like this idea. Throw the Olympics, WWF, and racecar driving into the second forum mentioned as well.

Who's claiming they're equal? Women's sports are 100% inferior.

umm. There should be one forum for football, then i don't care how you split up the rest. I'm not going to call hockey a sissy sport, but I don't think you can group basketball or soccer with football really.

So yeah, make a football forum. Then have other forums for the homos. But make a poker forum too cause I'm that kind of gay.

Football:

Denver - Ashley Lelie thinks he is good enough to be a #1. Now, dude has talent but has dropped so many money balls that there are high school speedsters saying, "So, I can be that mediocre and be a #3 guy in the NFL???"

No takers on Lelie as of yet, and nobody in Colorado gives a lick. A holdout that may have lost his #3 job to Watts anyways is going to have a bit of trouble finding that big money #1 job even on a shitty team. A real shame--Ashley could have done well in the Broncos system if he was willing to EARN a #1 spot as opposed to assuming that he deserved it because he knows he has potential.

Potential.

Uhhh, nice.

Too bad, he has had some nice catches over the last few years, but just has never stepped up to his potential...

Look for more air weapons this coming season for the Broncos. Plummer continues to improve his regular season playing....problem is after the regular season is over... Early start of Jay Cutler? Jake is going to wish for the smaller version of the microscope this season if he does not perform up to the inflated expectations.

I was just randomly talking shit and somehow mashed Brown v. Board of Education and Animal Farm together. It really had no point, i was just hyper and felt like picking a fight.

topless pillow fights should replace the WNBA. They can tale all those foul creatures and put them in some kind of ugly camp. I can guarantee a topless pillow fight league would get better ratings and higher attendance

Arizona can do well with Warner under center. They can wait out Leinart if necesary. He would likely sit out the first year anyways. Denny Green will make things exciting offensively but his defenses still suck some serious ass. He might put up 30 points a game but that won't mean shit when your defense gives away 40.

Bush thinks he is worth the number one money but because he couldn't agree to it before was why he didn't get picked number one. The Saints can sit on his ass because Deuce is good enough to start and play assuming he stays healthy. I still don't think Bush will be that huge of an impact player. He won't stand up to the pounding of the NFL. He'll be another Vick, all talk no play.

Arizona was in the top ten in both offense and defense last year. Their defense had three key players out most of the year. AZ's defense is underrated this year...and their noone questions their offensive potential this year. I like their chances to do some damage this year.

The O-Line is "slightly" improved this year but you also have Edge running behind it instead of JJ Arrington. The running game will be better than last year (which was horrific) and you still have the top WR tandem in the league:

Fitzgerald: 1,409 yrds, 10 TDs (heading into his third season)
Boldin: 1,402 yrds, 8 TDs (posted those stats while missing two games)

The safeties can't crowd the line with those two receivers spreading the field and Edge is a much much much much better runner than JJ Arrington so one way or the other, the Cardinals are going to move the ball and score points.

Combine that with what will be a better defense (I'll list all the key season ending injuries if you wish to the defense last year) and you've got the competitive team that everyone predicted the Cardinals would be last year.

There's no need to drink the cool-aid to like the Cardinals this year.

Im just excited about visiting Bengals Training Camp at the local penitentiary this year.

They remade The Longest Yard a year too early. If they wouldve waited til this year the Bengals couldve filled the entire roster for the Prison team.

They still have plenty of time before the season starts. Maybe some of them will take cues form the Reds pitcher and start assaulting women via personal ads.

Hows this for a first day training camp report:
QB: Jake Plummer looked sharp. Was delivering the ball accurately and crisply in the 7-on-7 drills and continued with his precision passing on 11-on-11 drills. Doesn't appear to be fazed by Jay Cutler looking over his shoulder. Jay Cutler got some work in but looked shaky as one would expect a rookie to look. Champ Bailey picked him off twice when Cutler failed to put enough mustard on the ball.

RB: Tatum Bell was the rave of Day 1. Bell looked noticeably bigger and was in great condition. Bell ran exclusively with the first team and looked even more explosive than ever. He consistently ripped huge gains through the middle and outran defnders to the corner before cutting upfield for what would have easily been 10-15 yard gains. While Bell was focused and modest, you could see an air of confidence and swagger to him...something apparently Mike Shanahan liked because several people overheard him go up to Tatum Bell and ask him if he's ready to run for 1600. Bell was seen joking around with Plummer and Rod Smith as the second team got their reps. Ron Dayne looked solid, but unspectacular. Dayne ran with the second team and performed ok, had a case of fumbilitis for a while, but pulled himself together to finish the practice well. Dayne's conditioning looked ok, but he was noticeably winded after his drills. The dog of the day was Cedric Cobbs. He couldn't finish his conditioning drills, and Bobby Turner ripped him a new one. When Cobbs got some reps in he ran the wrong play, fumbled, and dropped an easy swing pass which set Mike Shanahan on fire. At this point, Cobbs looks like he'll be lucky to be carried on the practice squad. Cobbs was also limping after practice.

WR: Rod Smith is...Rod Smith...Mr. reliable. Made some smooth catches and continues to be Plummer's go-to-man. Smith burned Champ Bailey for what appeared to have been about a 25-30 yard TD. Javon Walker was present but didnt get much work in. Walker participated in the conditioning drills but not in the football drills. The plan must be to work Walker in slowly over the summer. Watts still has hands of stone. Had several drops from Plummer and later Cutler. This could be the end of Watts in Denver. Lelie was not present.

The best news I see out of that is that Tatum Bell looks larger. His main problem the past two seasons has been that he was thought by most to be rather undersized to carry the ball 25+ times a game. If he can maintain his great burst speed while taking the punishment of a running-happy Broncos team, look for him to be the next 1000 yd Denver back. Hell, he almost got 1000 last year taking less than half of the carries.

Glad to see Rod Smith still in a uniform. Hopefully Walker will help create the tandem that has been missing in recent years at the position.

Never been happier to be wrong. This means some chump will be wasting a first round pick on him in my money league.
