I was going to suggest the a8n-sli line of boards, but it looks like you want to run an intel CPU - interesting.
This is obviously a gaming machine, and barring the conroe, amd knocks the socks off of intel. If you already have DDR2 ram though, that means you're running intel, buddy!

miir and I are best friends.

I used to be an Intel person until my last upgrade. So nothing wrong with that.
Video Card I would check out the http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6814130283, yeah it is a 553 verus 554, BUT it is more reliable in reviews on not only newegg. but google it.
That TT power supply seems big, but the 12V rails are soft in terms of amperage. The Power Supply forum on HardOCP has a thread for determining power needs, and recommended power supplies. My new one is 18a and 20a rails and I am very happy with it in SLI mode and single card mode. Xoxide is reliable anbd has much better choices of power supplies than newegg ( and newegg rules)
I cannot say anything bad about the MB. Mine is basically the same except AMD.

The ram can be dealt with. I have an intel board right now and I was planning to use this ram untill an upgrade down the line, however I can upgrade it earlier.
I was at first planning on running my new build on an amd opteron. However I kept running into trouble trying to find a socket 939 board that supported SLi. So then I tried looking at athlon 64 X2, and I had the same problem finding socket am2 with SLi support. Just looked again and found a possibility. If I were to go with opteron, I found this setup decent.
MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131540
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103586
I tryed to look at that power stream PSU they recommended considering power and price however the link was broken. So I then checked out the badboy they recommend and it looks nice. However I'm not completely up to date on hardware so Im not exactly sure what specs Im looking for. A friend of mine swears on Thermaltake so I decided to look with TT more and found this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817153033
The video card you linked was my original choice, however both newegg and evga's site have it backordered. Thats ok though, video card was going to be one of the last things I buy because I know they change a lot. Plus I can SLi anything for more power. How good is PNY for video cards? I have another friend who swears on them.

Yeah if they get that card in, go for it, I am running it now, and WOW. I need a second one myself, I setup SLI using my coworkers matching card heh but he wanted it back. That TT power supply is much better, especially if you plan on SLI, and any extra ( lights , cold cathodes, EL wires, fan glow etc). 18a per rail is NICE. Overall your plans are great, you could save some by going AMD, but I am not hating you for sticking to Intel, cash permitting I would have also.
I really did learn the hard way when I tried to revamp my system and did not plan from power supply up. I felt really stupid running my rig off two sep power supplies.

If you are planning on building a new desktop in the near future, definitely wait for conroe to come out and take a look at the benchmarks versus opteron. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the performance of conroe. Same goes for laptops, wait for merom.
If you aren't in a big hurry, I would even recommend waiting for AMD's next line of desktop CPUs that will be more of a competitor with conroe, before making a choice. I don't think AMD will be much of a competitor in the laptop market anytime soon.

the socket AM2 will allow you to go with the DDR2. other than that, the performance increase is pretty small over the soket 939.
if you're springing that much for the motherboard (A8N-SLI premium), check out the A8N32-SLI. it's super sexy.

I might wait a little bit before buying the cpu or video cards. I plan on getting the power supply sometime soon. I might wait till next month before getting the opteron, see if the price drops. They also have that 7600 kylere mentioned in stock. I have to say it does get a lot more positive reviews than the 554.
