The next Microsoft keyboard

Post by Sargeras »

I currently own the Natural Ergonomic 4000 and I love it, but I saw this and I am really tempted depending on the price of it.

Got one of the previous MS wireless keyboards, can't even play WoW w/o it making the keyboard driver lock up to the point I have to hard reset the machine :(

Back to the old MS wired keyboard for me.

I have a wireless ergonomic MS keyboard, works fine with every game I've every tried with it. EQ1, WoW, Halflife2, Battlefield, etc...

I like this new one Sarge posted but I really want one with built in fingerprint reader and it has to be ergonomic.

Will wait and see what Logitech offers this year. I'm still scarred from the squeeky Microsoft Keyboard I owned previous to the G15.

The G15, on the other hand, has half the keys rubbed off of it. Logitech fixed that issue with later revisions of the keyboard. I'm hooked on the 18 macro keys on the G15 but not exactly thrilled with the "feel" of the keyboard and I make more typos that I already do with it.

I'll probably stick with whatever the next generation of G15 keyboard is and hope they improve upon a great 1st gen keyboard. The LCD screen is nice but I'd like a little more functionality with it next year.

I go through a mouse a year so will pick up whatever Logitech comes out with to replace the G7, which has been fantastic for me. The swappable batteries could last a little longer but the large pads on the bottom of the mouse are so much better than the little feet that wear off of your typical mouse with heavy use.

I may switch back from G7 to MX if the MX includes swappable batteries and larger feet this go around.

If you look at that Microsoft keyboard, there's no keypad, function keys, and the arrow keys are small and in a goofy location. All that crap on the left is simple media play buttons that most keyboards have at the top. The mouse in the picture looks like the standard poorly designed MS mouse from the past several years. Fuck that.

Gotta be ergo for me, but this one might be nice for a dedicated media center pc or something. I've got the Microsoft 4000 linked above and its fantastic. I know what you mean about squeaky Microsoft keyboards, my previous one was like that, but the 4000 is very solid. I'll stick with logitech for mice, but Microsoft makes a great keyboard.

Good point about the ergo keyboard Zeep. My last three home keyboards previous to the G15 were ergo. Since I use a standard keyboard at work, I figured it might cut down on typos but that's not the case. Perhaps Logitech will release an ergo G15 type keyboard.

The feel of the Microsoft keyboard was great while typing but those damn squeeks...oh, and I hated the dual function F-keys on the Microsoft...had to switch back and forth to get print screen and had to download a hack so that I could load up the MS keyboard defaulting to Fkeys instead of their help keys.

BTW Zeep, I just bought a converter to change one end of my DVI-DVI cable to HDMI....30.00. Damn expensive little thing. The cables themselves were in the 99-179.00 range locally. You got a great deal on Ebay.

I'd still be using my super-clicky, super-heavy IBM keyboard if not for the fact that it woke my daughter up in the next room. It's still next to my desk waiting for the day I move my office to the basement.

Replaced it with a $10 Belkin USB Keyboard.

I never understood the desire to have something like the subject of this post. Is it like sex for your fingers or something?

P.S. The laser mouse w/o the mechanical rubber ball that collected crap you had to clean inside it... THAT was a good idea. This seems kind of pointless.

Sorry, I can't live without a number pad on the right. One of the benefits of a desktop computer is NOT having a piece of shit compact keyboard.

Pass :)
