I had similar thought before we went out to see it...Aabidano wrote:It has Tom Cruise in it, just another soulless crapfest to feed his ego.
But I thought back to some movies he's done in the past few years. Collateral, Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, Magnolia, etc... and I liked most of them. He's had his share of stinkers (Eyes Wide Shut, War of The Worlds) but those were gonna be shit no matter who was starring in them.
He may be a psychopathic lunatic, but he's a also a damn fine actor.

Yeah, it was less MI than 1 or 2 were, but it was fairly enjoyable. I caught myself waiting for his character to do something stupid and fall off a building or something, but it never happened...kind of.
For those who don't like the whole shaking camera effect, don't bother with this movie. It was so bad at one point that you could not tell if one of the main characters was shot or just turned around when almost shot.

War of The Worlds was my favorite book when I was a kid. I must have read it a dozen times. That being said, I guess I set myself up to dislike the movie.Bubba Grizz wrote:I liked War of the Worlds and thought Cruise did a great job in it. Aside from all the problems with the script and all that is. That is another topic entirely.
Funny you should mention that. It was one of the few movies I have seen where the shaky-cam wasn't overly distracting. For those who don't like the whole shaking camera effect, don't bother with this movie

It was a pretty frantic scene and shaky-cam was probably unnecessary.Boogahz wrote:miir wrote:Funny you should mention that. It was one of the few movies I have seen where the shaky-cam wasn't overly distracting. For those who don't like the whole shaking camera effect, don't bother with this movie

I was told to stop giggling every time I visualized bad things being done to Tom Cruise's character! I still don't think I giggled...ok, I giggled once.Syenye wrote:i didn't want to punch myself in the face repeatedly, so that's a plus.
The magic of the Alamo Drafthouse paid off again though (http://www.drafthouse.com). I always get to the theater early when I am going to see one there. The movie started at 9:55, and we got there around 9. When we got into the theater and took our seats we began placing food and drink orders while watching the Scientology episode of South Park and other Tom Cruise related footage. The Oprah show/theatrics were there, the "psychiatry" interview on that morning show (I think it was The Today Show), and other things he has done to make himself look like a fool.
It was just another pretty generic action movie. It was OK, but wouldn't be anything without Tom Cruise. I kept giggling because it reminded me of the Just Cruise commercial http://www.curiousfury.com/
Just saw it tonight... and I was totally amazed that my friends didnt get the entire plot as early as I did... normally we all see through crap like that pretty early.
Then again, I was drunk, so maybe I was having trouble suspending my disbelief..
Oh, and they coulda called this MIII: See Tom Cruise run... WTF?! he ran through the entire movie, I though I was watching an exciting marathon.

I saw this movie last week, my brother liked it more than I did but I didn't hate it -- anyway, I commented afterwards how it seems like tom cruise *runs* in just about every one of his movies (I first noticed this after "far and away" .. I was like, "why is he running?") so yeah, glad someone else took the time to notice that this actor either LOVES to run in film or for some random reason directors love to have him run.. I bet you could compile a list of, shit, I don't know how many cruise movies where he just runs point blank for whatever reason (of course now I have to look them up)Bojangels wrote: I kept giggling because it reminded me of the Just Cruise commercial http://www.curiousfury.com/
I haven't seen all these, but the vast majority that I have do feature him in a running sequence.. just silly

That's actually a good thing, if only Steven Seagal would follow the Cruise-mentality, he would burn a lot of unneeded fat.redeemed wrote: so yeah, glad someone else took the time to notice that this actor either LOVES to run in film or for some random reason directors love to have him run..

Tom's cardio is apparently much better than Seagal's.
Can't be an Actionstar if you look like a slob!
Many actionstars bulks up nowadays for their roles (Brad in Troy, Norton in American History X, Scott in rundown,Wesley for Blade-series etc et al), but some clearly need some fatburning to do!

I thought the consensus here was that Brad Pitt does indeed have chickenlegs.Kwonryu DragonFist wrote:He managed to bulk up his upperbody, but couldn't do anything about his chickenlegs so that was the best solution i guess!Siji wrote:Brad didn't bulk up all that well, his legs were digitally redone.Kwonryu DragonFist wrote:Many actionstars bulks up nowadays for their roles (Brad in Troy
