'nuff said.

I am still willing to bet the next amazing game I find will not be one the fanbois drool on for a year in advance. User input tends to ruin MMORPGs.

I find it ironic that people are still refering to Microsoft as the Money Grubbers when Sony isn't doing that shabily in the profiteering(read:gouging) of it's playerbase.

P$3 anyone?

Companies are in the business to make money, so I hope Microsoft does as well as they can. The tie in to Vista wouldn't have happened, but would have been funny...

That said, anyone that thinks that the 6 Month thing with SOE won't happen is smoking crack. I don't think it will be an immediate thing, but for sure at some point in the future, Sony will get control, and the playerbase will get fucked in the ass. This will be in addition to the standard MMOG assfucking that the playerbase will already be getting...

I wouldn't be surprised that the disagreement stemmed from MS trying to force McQuaid to simultaneously release Vanguard on Vista/360 and make it a Live Anywhere title.

On the contrary, I'm looking forward to seeing what Brad learned about his Vision (TM), and it it's any fun. I can't possibly see myself playing an MMOG long-term ever again, but I'll still check out Vanguard after the first month is over. I don't see anything compellingly different from any of the other shit that's on the market, so there's no reason for me to pick it up right away.

Even if somehow Sony gets control over game development, even if it were 2-3 years from now, players would have still gotten a hell of a lot of play time out of the "vision."

I don't see them getting control anytime soon, especially not the 6 month bullshit, considering the game isn't coming out until 2007.

P$3 anyone?
charging $500 for a machine that analysts are saying costs them no less than $800 to manufacture is gouging?

All the major console players sell the console at more or less cost price, they earn their money on the games not the console itself. Why do you think they are in the business? It certainly isn't because they are losing money on it sweetcheeks.

I am not saying they are gouging anyone, just that they are good at making money, and if they are selling the console at a loss, well then that is because they make more money that way,

Animalor specifically mentioned that the PS3 is overpriced. What else could he be talking about other than the console?
