That analogy doesn't work at all. When you work a job you get paid a salary, and the $5,000 you might get one month doesn't take a "slot" in your bank you can't fill the next month.
People take part in raid dungeons for two reasons... the thrill of the encounter, and the loot. Sadly, most typically lose the former a lot sooner than the latter.
As it stands, there are very few distinct upgrades to be found in Ahn'Qiraj, coming from Blackwing Lair. It's mostly items that are worse than their BWL counterparts or simply equivalents. For some classes, the sets are decent, for others, they are worthless. I play a tank and there is a grand total of one item from Ahn'Qiraj I would even consider wearing over what I currently have, that being a situationally better ring. The upgrade in loot that we've come to expect just isn't there. The initial thrill of defeating an encounter is the sole reason to every zone into Ahn'Qiraj, and there are a lot of people in raiding guilds that don't even care about that.
I lead a guild that's had Nefarian down since October... because of that, 95% of Ahn'Qiraj items rot. Most people have full Blackwing Lair sets and see no reason to waste their time with Ahn'Qiraj.
Your job analogy is more akin to working a job for a salary one year, then simply getting 5% of that the following year for working a more difficult position.
Edit: in response to your edit...

That's exactly what I'm referring to. The majority of Ahn'Qiraj items are merely equivalents to Blackwing Lair counterparts, if not worse. In very few cases are they distinct upgrades.Boogahz wrote:Sidegrade = Lateral

Things will change.Things could change
Until the forums are filled with retards whining about it being too hard.. then we will make it easier. But it's going to be hard. Really hard
Yea, we fucked up on the AQ world event so we're not going to force players to grind inane shit for aNaxxramas will just be open. But we do want to do a world event, which we want to call the Scourge Invasion, or hopefully something cooler than that
To placate the fucking casuals who incessantly spam the forums whith their whines.that would basically be something for everyone who's not going into Naxxramas. So they would see the impact without having to actually go in

No offense, but I can live without another 20 man that requires you to have 40 man loot, anyhow. They really need a well tuned 10 or 15 man with DMish level loot so that part time players have somewhere to work up to ZG and AQ20 besides endlessly clearing UBRS and 5 manning Strat/DM. It would need to be harder than UBRS was, pre patch, but squarely in the realm of possibilty for people who have a modest collection of blues, with appropriate drops. There has been nothing, in terms of new 5 man content, put out since Dire Maul. Some bullshit revamps to loot tables doesn't really count, in my book.
As it stands, in their rush to placate the content devouring mega guilds, they are burning through the part timers in droves, when a couple more 5-15 man instances for variety would solve so much for this crowd. And don't give me this elitist bullshit, either. The only real differences between the elite and the part timers are the ability to spend more time at the game and, usually, the ability to efficiently organize more people into doing repetitive tasks. Both groups follow the path of least resistance and both are only as good as the sheep herder cracking the whip on them.

War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

The sad part is that all these 40 mans are going to be COMPLETELY FUCKING EMPTY after the expansion. Hardcores will push into the new level 70 raid content, and the casuals will all be whacking it to their Blood Elf mangina, and nobody will even look back. Why bother with old purple shit when there will be blues with better stats and shiny new effects?

First of all lets get some untruths out of the way about "20 Man" zones.
My guild, Vox Immortalis, went from DM/Schlomance/Stratholme/LBRS/UBRS to ZG and were quite successful in killing all the named in there on a regular basis (2 times per week for months). We had basically raped the zone for all it was worth until we moved in to Molten Core.
It doesnt take 40 Man gear to conquer the 20 Man content. It takes brains and teamwork and the will to win.
Learning ZG was a great boon to our guild as it taught us all the fundamentals of raiding hardcore in WoW.
We quite literally tore up Molten Core. The first time we zoned in we had the first 4 named down. Second night we had next 4 down to Domo.
We worked on Domo 3 times until he fell.
Rag fell about 1 month later.
We have been farming MC for only a few months.
We then zoned in to BWL and killed Razorgore then Vael (Vael fell a few days ago what a bitch!).
AQ20 is another zone very very similiar to ZG. It simply takes brains, strats and the will to win. It doesnt take "OMG UBER PURPLES!" to win in that zone.
Anyways, have a nice day and dont let the fucktards on the forums lead your way.

Making "greens" and "blues" and "epics" was such a stupid choice. Letting items stand on their stats/level requirements would have been much better. Differentiating between crap, trade skill stuff, and magic items is fine, but this.. I've seen it as a problem since beta and it's only getting worse. Legendary items? The bullshit over those is only just starting.
I really don't understand why so many people claim that when the expansion comes out all the raiders are just going to replace their nice epic sets with greens and blues from the new zones. The expansion will be up to level 70, the ilvl of items off Nef is up to ~83, that will still be significantly better than some level 70 green item. Considering the C'thun loot is ilvl ~86 I have a feeling people will continue to wear their 'old' purples far into the expansion before they are replaced by new loot.

The main problems with MMORPGs are:
Pet classes should see their pets scale with their equipment (and not only receive some insignificant bonuses like currently).
The monsters of the expansion should scale up geometrically, and not exponentially. Kunark was fine, but afterwards it just became ridiculous very quickly.
Don't add new classes. Or if you do, think it through. But it seems like Blizzard has this one pinned down. Add as many races as you want, though.
That is all, obviously, imho.
For all those who care, I am now in this wretched hive and scum and villainy that is the USA (/dodges the stuff thrown at him)! And currently in the third semester of my MA.
