The Movies

Post by Winnow »

For the Sim people out there, this is one to give a try.

The User interface, graphics and tutorial are outstanding.

I spent an hour learning the basics of studio building and making my first few movies. I haven't gotten into the actual hands on movie making yet so will get back with more comments later in a week or so when I have time.

It blows away Civ IV in all aspects...visually, user interface, tutorial, animations, entertaining gameplay along with originality. For little Sims characters, the customization is higher than EQ2's character generator.

For those that want to try before buying, I recommend grabbing the DVD image release from deviance posted a day ago on alt.binaries.games.

I've been watching some of the films people have made online.. debating still whether or not to get this. After only watching a few movies, I've already seen of lot of repeated animations which kind of bothers me.

Hmmm, I haven't even seen that part of it yet. From what I'm gathering, the movie studio sim part and the movie making part are almost totally separate. I didn't know the movies were supposed to be watchable or anyone would actually want to watch them, just fun to make within the context of the game.

I haven't really checked more than a couple out, but I thought this one had some funny dialogue.

Damn.. those animations are hideous. The walk cycle alone makes me want to fall into the fetal position. I was thinking of checking this out, but... oi.

It's a movie studio Sim. I have no idea why people post the actual little movies. The graphics in the Sim part of the game are great (for a Sim game). The Pretty in Pink knockoff Sartori linked was pretty funny though.

This isn't going to make you the next Spielberg.

Zoe: No one's gonna force you to go, Jayne. As has been stated -- this job's strictly speculative.
Jayne: Good. Cause I don't know these folks, don't much care to.
Mal: They're whores.
Jayne: I'm in.

You opened your Xmas gift early???

If you like sim type games, you'll like this one for sure.

I saw this in the $15 or less bin at our local gamestop. I was tempted, but passed since I have so many other unfinished games atm.

We do our immediate family gifts a couple of days early with my in-laws. Been a tradition for a while now - it's much easier to do it that way than opening a zillion and one gifts with the rest of the cousins and aunts and stuff. Takes forever! So we had our "christmas" this past wednesday, and this evening was the extended family christmas. Tomorrow is christmas with my family :) :)

I installed it this morning - i'm already hooked!
