Unchurched?

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

Unchurched?

Post by Arborealus »

Cally Parkinson, a spokeswoman for Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Ill., said church leaders decided that organizing services on a Christmas Sunday would not be the most effective use of staff and volunteer resources. The last time Christmas fell on a Sunday was 1994, and only a small number of people showed up to pray, she said.

"If our target and our mission is to reach the unchurched, basically the people who don't go to church, how likely is it that they'll be going to church on Christmas morning?" she said.
Is unchurched the correct term?...I thought "devotionally challenged" was preferred...

Call me old fashioned...I preferred it when they called me a godless heathen...:)

I'm with you Arb, i prefer heathen.

I have however heard unchurched many times. While not correct, I believe it is the preferred polited word of the churched.

"I think what this does is feed into the individualism that is found throughout American culture, where everyone does their own thing."
The above is from the cnn.com article on this subject. The guy says it like individualism is a bad thing to be stamped out. Like it is the debil.....

back in the day...and by back in the day i mean the 70s... a woman who gave birth, had to go and get "churched" to be cleansed of whatever spiritual contamination that giving birth mars one's eternal soal with.

that is the catholic church by the way, in the US.

How hilariously primitive is that. i mean that is a step up from dancing around in a thong and shouting at women in a hut while they menstruate...and not that much of an intellectual step up frankly.

OOGAH BOOGAH!!!

The Church Lady SNL skits are an accurate depiction of religion.
