Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Post by noel »

I hate generally hate driving games more involved than GTA: San Andreas, but I picked up Need for Speed: Most Wanted Black Edition (comes with a bonus DVD) today, and I'm really enjoying it.

Graphically, it looks incredible. The cars look perfect. I have every setting maxed out and it performs great.

The gameplay and plot is kind of silly, in a Fast and Furious meets Beverly Hills 90210 sort of way, but the dialogue and acting are so incredibly horrible that it ends up going past awful and swinging around to good.

Running from the cops is a blast too. Ideally, you don't really want to run too well, because you get better points/scores for dragging them along behind you and making them look stupid.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

It's my impression that they tried too hard with the cops this time around. We were promised cops that can produce PIT maneuvers, and cops that will use their numbers in order to corner in a vigilante. It's easy to fire their ploys right back at them, and often makes them easier to evade. The best officers were found in Need for Speed: High Stakes, in my most correct opinion.

Though, I'm not saying this game is crap. I think it's the best edition so far, because I really dig the level design, above all else.

I think I'm just ODing on the eye candy at the moment. I'm sure it will get boring eventually when I have my Mercedes SLR McLaren edition fully tricked out. Or maybe the Porsche GT2!

Decisions... decisions...

Btw my leading post is probably the worst review of anything I've ever given, but I was in the middle of playing and just wanted people to know how cool I thought it was.

I'm diggin it. Nice to have DAYLIGHT again. Map layout is pretty nice, lots of cool areas / shortcuts to drive through.

And <3 cops. Best thing about NFS games.

Sounds similar to Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition which was really fun to play as well.

What platform are you playing it on? It's out on the Xbox 360 as well.

Playing it on the PC, and I have a buddy who also got it, so we're planning to do some online racing down the road here.

Apparently it's only PC, X-box and X-box 360 that will support online play. Considering how good it looks on the PC (and I'd assume it would be close to as good on the 360), I can't imagine why anyone would want to play it on the PS2.
