Getting bugged after completing quests?

Post by Niffoni »

Over the last few days, and since I started with my new computer, I've been getting effectively disconnected after completing quests about half the time. I'll still see folks walking around, and chat, but I can't interact with anything, or even log out/quit without going through the task manager. Within a few minutes, if i wait it out, I'm dropped to login.

I'm fairly new to WoW, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue?

Interestingly enough I've been having this same issue recently. It only seems to happen everyone once in awhile but when it does it just happens over and over again. It also usually kills my internet so I have to restart my modem to even view a webpage.

Thankfully I hardly play secondaries and being 60 I don't do much in the way of quests or I would really have a problem with this.

Open up your network connection, click properties, configure, advanced tab, then disable Checksum Offload. Worked for me when I had this problem.

I had the same problem, but my cheap ass network card didn't have that setting. I ended up buying a new network card and hadn't had the problem since.

Maw's fix is step 1. If that doesn't work, check to see if there is a driver update for your NIC.

I had the same problem. My system has 2 on-board network cards. Switching to the other network card fixed the problem. I haven't had a chance to try updated drivers on the "old" card yet.

I have NFC what a checksum offload is, but I disabled it. Thanks Maw. I'll test it tonight =)

I only had this happen to me over the weekend...maybe only Sunday/Monday. It wasn't everytime I turned in a quest though.

The fix above seems to be working great for me. Got no idea what exactly it is I disabled, but it doesn't seem to have hurt me in any way.
