So... Meirs is out, due to lack of support from her own party because, GASP!, she supported women's "issues." So now... Bush nominates a "Nazi" type ultra right-wing freak... When is this going to end???

And on top of that, Karl Rove (aka Satan) has still not be charged...

PS - Some are saying he is a "mainstream" conservative... if that's the case I would like to see some proof on it.

Trying to distract the country from the mounting pressure is a tried and true practice. It was done for a reason.

The thing is the Democrats still have to come up with a candidate who can do more than the John Kerry Plan (stand up and say "I'm not George W. Bush so I deserve your vote"). The next election won't be easier because although Bush is a disastrous president, he can't run, thus you have to prove the next guy is a fuck up... and the Republicans are better at the smear game than the Democrats.

The dems should have stood up and saluted Meirs, they failed to do so, and the rights objections became the spin. Everyone was so afraid she was a closet anti abortionist now they have to fight an actual nutcase, and the Pres will be able to stand there going, "What me worry? They keep objecting to my choices and I will be able to emplace anyone I want."

The public gets weary of objections and just wants to stop hearing about it after a few weeks.

So they should have heralded someone they knew absolutely nothing about? Yeah, that makes sense.

I often just don't bother posting anymore just to point out how incredibly retarded some people can be but............. Kylere has forced me from my daily tasks of being naive, chaining myself to trees, voting for Kerry and not being cool enough to be in the vv l33t club to actually take the time and highlight what a fucking waste of bandwidth his post was.

Toodles~

He's right in that she was clearly a red herring. She was thrown into the mix, despite being unqualified, so that Dubya could point to her and say "Hey, I nominated a moderate woman, and you didn't support her." Eventually, the public just wants the circus to end and get the SCOTUS moving again.

Conservatives were really pissed about Miers. I wasn't so upset as just perplexed why Bush seems to want to avoid the showdown with the Dems. Bush seems to be dancing with the devil as he keeps allowing the Dems to act like they are meaningful. George! Wake up! You're not in Kansas! You won the effin election! You control both houses of Congress! Act like a man! You've got Karl by your side and Dick riding shotgun! ... but George ... can't seem ... to pull ... ... ... the trigger...

:(

Serious conservatives are silently thinking George Herbert Walker Bush and shuddering. Then we pray to Ronnie and Barry.

Remember, Kyo, these are people who wanted Jefferson (the darky lover) removed from Mt Rushmoore and Ronnie put up there in his place. Reagan was the second comming of Jesus to these folks, mostly because they have no clue how much long term economic damage he did to the country and that he was the first Republican to tap into the Jesus Crispies as a source of dumbvoters willing to vote against their own best interests. In all fairness to Metanis, though, thats where most of the similarities between Reagan and the Neocons end, though many of the former pro-Carter Neocons got their political start during the Reagan administration.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Dwight Eisenhower
