Regardless of whether or not you personally know how to make something, it can be made in your kitchen for a fraction of the cost. Having someone else cook something for you because you don't know how is part of the convenience associated with the cost. It doesn't matter if you're you're ordering a cold-cut trio or the broiled salmon over buckwheat noodles with ginger and soy.Leonaerd wrote:I hadn't included burgers in my statement because I don't eat out at any "fast food" restaurant other than Subway. I can't stand greasy food, so it would make sense that I don't eat at a place such as McDonald's.Sueven wrote:And you can't make a burger?
Yes, of course I can make a burger. I'm a man. Men grill. Roar.
The difference is that I am not able to craft most of the food that I go out of my way to order from a restaurant. I don't know the first thing about a dish of Fettuccine Alfredo, for instance. Eating out might be entirely about convenience if I am visiting Subway, but if it is a fancy restaurant I'm going to, for instance, I'll likely try something I've never had.Noel wrote:Probably well over 90% of anything you can get in any restaurant (fast food or otherwise) can be made in the comfort of your kitchen for a fraction of the cost. Eating out has always been about convenience, not cost-savings.

I personally like garlic and fresh ground pepper in my alfredo sauce.
Put whatever you like in it... it's your sauce!

I was thinking the same thing; picking a simple pasta dish as fancy food. It takes me longer to make a good burger on the grill than than fettucine alfredo.
100 to 1, Alfredo was a fat fuck
