Leo Mazzone to the Orioles
So, we'll see what the Braves pitching is without the best pitching coach in the game. Maybe some new blood is what the Braves need. Or maybe they fall flat on their faces.
The only thing Braves Fans, self included here, have to be happy about is that he won't be working for another NL team. The Mets courted him a few years ago and he stuck with the Braves, but Bobby Cox won't be able to work his magic forever. The era has net ended yet, but the Braves have lost a HUGE piece. I would not be surprised to see Leo 'The Rock' Mazzone up for the HoF after all is said and done.
Mel is going back home and be the pitching coach of Seattle. From what I understand, Leo and Peter go back a ways. I don't think Leo would have jumped ship for no reason (aside from the fact that his $225k salary was a joke to be frank).Canelek wrote:I was thinking that the Yanks and Braves would end up swapping pitching coaches. The Braves will still wind up with Mel, I bet.
yeah mazzone should be making like $5 million a year.
and people like Jared Wright and others should be paying him a 3% commission for resurrecting their careers.
good luck to Leo. he deserves the cash. I just dont understand what the Braves were thinking by not matching or beating the offer. i just don't get it....
