FORT HOOD, Texas - Army Pfc. Lynndie England, who said she was only trying to please her soldier boyfriend when she took part in detainee abuse at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison, was sentenced late Tuesday to three years behind bars.

England’s sentencing wrapped up the last of nine courts-martial of low-level soldiers charged in the abuse scandal, which severely damaged America's image in the Muslim world and tarnished the U.S. military at home and abroad.

crying shame that is all she got was 3 years and a dishonorable discharge.

three lousy years? you get more for getting caught with a bag of weed in your kit. what a fucking embarrasment.

although 3 years for torturing and humiliating Iraqi prisoners is a lot worse than 0 days for murdering Canadian soldiers with a laser guided bomb, so I guess the system is getting better.

While I agree the sentence is too short, do not sneeze at a dishonorable, she will just whore her way to someone for her room and board, but for anyone with a conscious that would be a serious punishment and cut your chances of ever having decent employment to nothing.

I don't think anyone on the planet is going to assume Lynddie England had a conscience.

This is absolute fucking bullshit, keep protecting your own when they commit heinous crimes, that will show the rest of the world how fucking fair and balanced you are.

LOL Nick you moron, my personal belief is that they should all be summarily executed. I have said it before even on this board.

I just did not want anyone thinking that a dishonorable was a light slap, for most crimes it is essentially a lifetime parole,. and I think it should be. So blow me with you rolling eyes smileys.

I still find it very disappointing that no higher ups got into trouble for this. I don't think they were the only ones involved. She got what she deserved and the dishonorable discharge will follow her the rest of her life.

I guess someone has to wear the mask of the bad guy, and it can't be the brass.
