Odd Problem

Post by Soreali »

The Dell system in my house will not allow to users to be logged on at once.. When switching to a second user the desktop blinks once and brings you back to the logon screen.. Anyone here ever have the same problem? Trying to google some answers for it but they're not helping..

Thanks
Timmah.

Okay go to http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html run hijack this and find out what exactly is running on your PC, because Dell is uninformative, so I will assume WINXP SP2?

Maybe using Zone Alarm software? This has a known bug that causes this issue.

Do you use the classic logon screen rather than the Welcome Screen? If so this will happen.

Give us some data to work with.

Running WinXP Home Pre SP2.. For some reason XP2 wont install on this piece of crap..

I did in fact have Zone Alarm installed but uninstalling it did nothing.

I use the welcome screen

Let me know if want to see whats going on when HijackThis was ran

Well lets see fast user switch enabled, SP1, hrm

Can you get into the other user in question from a clean reboot and then switch back?Or is it one way only ( the problem) does it give any error messages? Can you do it once from a clean reboot, then not again etc.

Hijack this is great for finding out exactly what is loading in your startup quickly.

not to mention which have you tried picking relevant key tertms and googling it, example given - xp sp1 user switch login screen - I found about 10 possibilities just doing that.

I can log onto any of the users but it only allows one to be one at a time..even after a clean reboot..I tried googling it before I came here.. none of the answers i found worked sadly..
