Windows Media Center PC.

Post by Animalor »

Anyone here using a Media Center PC in their homes that would like to share their impressions of it?

I've taken a look at the OS(thx MSDN subscription) and I like the functionality and features of the Media Center but I was wondering how well it interacts with other components of an entertainment system and also how well it performs against a standard PVR.

Thanks

Its going to have full compatibility wirelessly to xbox 360!

Store videos and music on your pc media center, and watch them with your xbox 360 on your big screen in the living room?

Windows Media Center Edition looks interesting but I haven't found a reason to use it. If you have a direct DVI connection to your HDTV, Projector, etc, it acts just like another monitor where you can display anything you want. For the audio, a digital audio connection from your computer to your receiver does the trick allowing you to play MP3s along with Dolby Digital, AC3, DTS , whatever format your audio is in.

If you don't have that capability or it's impractical due to the location of your equipment, then the Media Center/Xbox 360 looks like a good option.
