I didn't think it was as good as some of the critics did (movie of the year! decade! century! universe!!), but I'll be damned if I've ever seen a better boxing movie. Renee (sp?) is both a decent actor and a great character in this flick, and The Crowe fits his part nicely. The fight scenes are nothing short of gorgeous, and are excellently woven throughout the plot.
Though there are minor holes in the plot which only somebody on the lookout would notice, they don't detract from the splendid presentation and feel of the movie. Each character is masterfully played. Will this win movie of the year? I'd be disappointed if it did. But it's a great $7 purchase.

the boxing was the only thing that saved this movie from sucking ass. I already knew what happened because i follow boxing, so their was no surprise ending for me. that and anyone with common sense knew what happened by the opening quote.
in short, boxing was great, rest of it sucked. of course, paul giamitti (sp) was excellent.
