Deadliest Catch

Post by Tyek »

Anyone else watching this show on Discovery on Tuesdays? I can't stop watching it. Last night 6 people died in the first day of the fishing season. The show says that an average of 1 man a week dies during the season.

They do a really great job showing you the dangers of the job and the rewards. The first several episodes were about the first crab season, now they are in Alaska. During the first season one crew made about 16K in 72 hours on the best boat and another crew made virtually nil on another one because a dead fish got into the tank and killed most of the crabs. Of the 72 hours the season lasted the crews worked about 68 hours of it.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Yup, I watch it. It's a great show. I've learned a lot, especially how to abuse a greenhorn.
