Amityville

wasn't that great. the end got a little gay and went a bit overboard straying from the true story. the best part though was when the babysitter came over.

overall a 5.5 out of 10.

Considering how boring the 1979 version was, I am not surprised. The 3-D version in 1983 was better... I just don't see why they would try to do something with this franchise.... can't polish a turd.

But it's a true story, not a franchise!

Seems to me someone's just trying to cash in on a remake of a story that was well covered and didn't need a new movie.

I rate this a "not even worth it for free" movie which puts it on a negative rating chart as it wastes valuable time in your life, your safety if you had to drive to the theater, and possibly ruined your weekend if you started off your Friday night with this movie.

It's like someone at work giving you tickets to the last preseason baseball game before the regular season an hour before it starts, thinking this is something nice to do. It's one of the most meaningless games of the year, you still have to make your way to the ballpark, through traffic, spend money on parking, food/drinks or risk being more miserable at the meaningless game, go home late and get up with less sleep for work the next day.

Paid Time off with no strings attached is the only real reward.

Oops, I digress.

I still love how it's "based on a true story". Okay, some crazy fuck may have killed his family, that's true. But from the previews I've seen, it's not fucking true that the walls were bleeding and nails were screwing themselves in and shit like that. THAT DIDN'T REALLY HAPPEN.

Unless they explain it as some crazy fuck thinking it happened, in which case I retract my statement.

it was actually proven that this is not a true story, however it is based on a house on which someone did die in.

A family now lives, and has been living in the original Amityville home for quite some time, with absolutely no problems. They did however, brick over the windows that gave the house it's signature look.

I'm not sure if the original story is real or fake. (The haunting that is, I know the murder was real.) It certianly seems embelished at best. All the hollywood and book series certianly detract from any sort of credibility the original story may have once held.

You have to admit that the circumstances of the original murders were more than a bit odd, and definately sets up the mood/background for something out of the ordinary. That family was shot point blank, execution style, in thier beds with a high powered rifle. Not a single neighbor heard any of the shots and each family member was undistrubed in thier beds. Even the kids never even flinched while the other was shot in the bed next to him, or when the parents were shot. There were no struggles, and none of the bodies were moved. All of the execution occured in thier beds.

As far as I know, all the above is still completely unexplained. Follow that with the shooter going on record saying that voices were constantly telling him to kill his family, and you have a quite an interesting scenerio. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I know one thing for sure... You couldn't pay me to spend a night alone in that house due strictly to the mythos surrounding it. Better be safe than sorry!

I would like to add that Ryan Reynolds is really really adorable and has a delightful body. That was all I was watching during this movie.

The family admitted publically that they made up all the hauntings stories with the help of the original writer, and kept up the charade for the purpose of selling books, the profits of which they got a cut of. I want to stab the screen every time they talk about what a true story it is.

yeah really, post a link, because in reality we all know that the house was REALLY HAUNTED, and those confessions about the house not being haunted are total bullshit =P

I guess training for Blade 3 paid off! :D

Jessica Biehl had a nice training schedule for Blade 3 too! (as you can see in the movie, compare her earlier form with the one in B3!)

Let us not forget that, aside from the first movie, the Blade franchise was fucking horrid. :)
