favorite music DVD's

Post by Xzion »

what do find to be some of the best, most influential music based DVD's that are able to visualize the essense of a band and or/ there musical philosophy and idealism

for me 2 stand out...obviously pink floyd's the wall had a depressing vibe which i usually dont like yet the video was able to emphesize the bands musical genious on a level that there music in itself could not do, at least if you want to relate it to there personal perception of the work

another great one is the Phish IT concert dvd/documentary...the DVD shows some of there best live performances while the band members describe there musical philosophys and identify the modern "jam band" movement almost ot a T and show that they are in reality musical revolutionarys in the making at a level of the greatful dead

Rage Against The Machine is probably my favorite. It has live performaces from around the world and all the music videos they had produced at the time.

I also like Pink Floyd's Pulse. I saw the concert live, and the video really takes me back.

The Last Waltz - The Band

Just an amazing performance and directed my Martin Scorsaze (sp). The list of guest performs is a who's who of the era... everyone from Neil Yound, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton. I had no idea how many songs I knew from them until I watch the video.

The Dead - Live at Roseland

After this series of concerts, The Grateful Dead tore down the amazing Wall of Sound, and went on hiatus. It's really a time piece and a walk back in time to a different era.

Festival Express

Not really representative of one band, but great just the same.
