Against my better judgement I reactivated my WoW account.

This morning wasn't daily maintenance, it was patching for the mini expansion, hence 3 hours downtime at 7-10am CST instead of 30 mins (average) downtime at 4-4.30am
If anyone should (and does) bitch about 'daily maintenance' it's the people in Western Australia and Japan (since it's at 8 or 9pm there, probably even worse when DST changes over)

Everytime that the servers go down for more than 30 minutes, you can go to the Sony EQ2 boards and find atleast 2 Euro dipshits bitching and demanding compensation for their time "lost" due to maintenance or patching for mini expans. Before I get flamed to hell and back, not all Euro's are dipshits...I am only talking about the ones on EQ2 boards. It's fucking ridiculous that they think they are the only ones getting the nasty end of a shit stick when EQ2 boards come down. imo I would much rather wait 30 min for daily scheduled maintenance between 7-7:30am est than play WoW and not be able to really play on their servers at all. And along with the bullshit compensation demands they threaten to go to WoW
I am waiting one day for the mods on those forums to just go ape shit when they have heard enough bitching and complaining and see an all out bitch fest between them and dissatisfied Euro's.

Yeah....I didn't know they were patching the adventure pack and some other new stuff today. Normally it is just the 30 minute maintenance for updating and patching in small stuff that they do in the morning for 30 minutes.
I will say this.....their coders fucked up hardcore and could not possibly have tested one of their new zones before sending it live. I have never seen so much lag in an instanced zone. At least a 5 second delay on everything you did in the zone...and no more than 6 people in it. I fully expect to see an hour or more of downtime today to fix that.

If you are talking about the D'Morte zone off of Nek...I had 0 lag on Permafrost and it is a heavily populated server. They did database changes though. I have a custom UI and it worked fine the day before the patch..but on patch day when servers came back up I crashed 3 times and got fatal errors out the ass. I had to go back to default UI until I could talk to the guy who did my UI to find out what was wrong. Sony was supposed to patch 2 different times yesterday and never did so maybe they will fix whatever is making you lag so bad...wishful thinking I know

Very sorry about the overloaded zone -- We'll be standing up some new instances within the next few hours to get rid of the lag.
The zone's popularity turned out to shoot past our estimates. It's already fixed on our side and waiting for one other fix before we get it out to the live servers.

OMGADZ!1!!!1!!!
How can they possibly be allowed to live? You mean they had something that did vastly better than their original estimates thought, and now they are working to add capacity to fix the problem?
The audacity of those fucking bastards!

I took them less than a day to address the issue.
At Blizzard's current rate of fixing shit, their servers will still be pooched in 2006. Sad that they fucked up such a potentially good game with such horrendous service and server stability.

Shattered Hand is one of the most over-populated of the servers. They are one of the first servers for which server transfers are being allowed.miir wrote:The reason I reactivated was to play on Shattered Hand with a friend.

The only think I really want to offer to this conversation is this..
Give it a whirl on another server. Lothar is constantly pegged at High population yet we have never a Queue and there is very rarely lag.
(I haven't encountered a wait queue since Open Beta)
Look at Lisandre's list, Don't play on any servers on the left and you should be just fine and you may even have an enjoyable experience.
There are 95 servers listed in the Realm Forum message board and you're judging quality of service on the worst/most crowded one of the bunch.
