Illegal Immigration Issue in So Cal
I was watching the news last night and an interesting story came on. Seems Mission Viejo Police are going to send information on illegal immigrants who repeatedly commit crimes to the INS. they also intend to hold these people until INS can pick them up for deportation. Local latino activists are claiming that they are doing the INS job and if they do they will not consider them police and will act accordingly. First off, I think we should deport a repeat criminal, or at least put him/her in jail. Second, I was surprised to see the activist group advocate civil unrest on local TV. I was curious what others think about this issue. Are the police overstepping their role?
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

They don't do this already? I assumed that would be a standard procedure.Tyek wrote:Mission Viejo Police are going to send information on illegal immigrants who repeatedly commit crimes to the INS. they also intend to hold these people until INS can pick them up for deportation.

The illegal immigration here in So Cal really pisses me off. I used to live right next door to a whole family of them. The mother crossed the border pregnant, and had her kid on US soil, which meant the kid had rights to become a US citizen. Because of that she collected a welfare check and brought up the rest of her kids, and all they did was cause trouble and smoke pot all damn day. They finally got ousted when the landlord cracked down on how they trashed the house, the neighborhood complaints of all their trouble, and the "possibility" that they were housing illegal immigrants.
When Bush announced that he was going to offer immigrants temporary status for employment, I wanted to beat him. That's giving them even more motivation to jump the border.

Yeah, it seems that way. It certainly doesnt happen that way. My girlfriend lives in an appartment complex where about 60% of the residents are hispanic. I would estimate that 60% of them are illegal. Nobody does a damned thing about it. Not even the cops. There have been several times where cops have been called to where the residents are illegals, and nothing happens. Shoot, under some stupid act, the police aren't even aloud to arrest them.
As a legal immigrant I agree! My company is currently going through fits to get my work permit extended while illegal immigrants are being cuddled. Quite frustrating.Siji wrote:What part of "Illegal" in Illegal Immigrant is not understood? Cross the border illegally, get deported immediately.
Seems easy enough.
