Are they posted somewhere as a group or did you already have all 500? : )

397 - Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper

I'd rank that one higher. I mean, there's no way (200 - Beck - Loser or an Eminem song I've never heard of at 166 and ANOTHER Eminem song at 290 (Stan?) should be sitting higher on the chart. Eminiem does not rate two songs on this list, both being higher than the B.O.C Reaper at 397...huh??.). It also looks like Stairway to Heaven (#31) got ganked in the ratings most likely because Rolling Stone wanted to be different (and of course rate the song with their name in it at #1) and not rank that one high as is usually the case in these top all time lists.

It's a nice effort though to shake up the typical top 500 though.

001 - Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone
002 - The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction
This is a suspect top two by a magazine named Rolling Stone. The only song that possibly has a shot at the number one spot now would be if the Rolling Stones released a cover of "Like a Rolling Stone"

The Rolling Stones - Like A Rolling Stone

That list is such bullshit it amazes me.

#1 - OutKast shouldn't even be on there
#2 - There are much better Metallica songs than Enter Sandman that should be on there, not to mention that sound itself should be above Outkast easily.
#3 Boston - More than a feeling should be higher as well (again, way in front of Outkast)

That magazine is fucking retarded.

I think this is actually one of Rolling Stone's best lists I've seen. I agree with with a good portion of it. Even songs I may not like I can admit deserve to be in there for their influence on the grand flow of things.

Don't be pissy because your band didn't get in the top 10 like you think it should.

I'm no fan of hip-hop in general. Still, even I can hear the originality and genius in Outkast's music. I won't argue placement, but I definitely think they deserve to be high on the list.

I can't believe they don't even have a Red Hot Chili Pepper's song on there. Also neither APC nor Tool rated a song and it would have been nice to see Rage Against the Machine on the list as well.

Without knowing what exactly they judge on I don't understand why they will put upwards of 5 songs for some bands (21 for The Beatles alone?) and leave others off the list completely.

Because many of who play instruments and nearly everyone who has written music finds the Beatles influential and/or inspirational.

Yeah... 31? What the fuck? It should at least be in the top 10, no question.

Like Mplor, I'm certainly not a huge fan of their type of music but Outkast certainly isn't the same as the typical plethora of horse shit thrown out by their "genre" - then again, I hate describing music as genres in the first place. I think Outkast was definitely worthy of being on the list. However, I will agree with "That magazine is fucking retarded."

Yeah... I don't care for APC nearly as much as a lot of Tool's music, but no Rage, RHCP, or Tool? This list is fucking ridiculous.

2 songs by eminem??

Besides, Dream on by Aerosmith deserves to be in the top 10, even if it is being used in a commercial now.

Probably because that's when most of the best songs were made.

I agree w/ Tru o this one, it's a pretty good list overall for what it was trying to cover. A little light on some of the songs I would have included such as a couple from Clapton, Stewart, and the Doobie Brothers but that's ok, as this list is truncated so they are probably there if I could view the page(music/mp3 sites are blocked at work).
