Tradeskills (Tailoring)

Post by Tinkin Tankem »

I need to find some sort of recipe that will allow me to get to 220. I don't mind camping for certain drops and I'd rather not pay for all of the combines. It just seems to me that there are no descent recipes that you can use for skillups. Really I'd just like to know the route that most other people took to get to 220+. I'd like to finish my TS earring since I've done the rest of the TS's. Even if it's not very much of an upgrade at all it's still something that I would like to get. Atm I'm sitting at 180. [you]

I've been working on LoY racial robes to get my tailoring to 220. Very slow since it's hard to find components (was 170 in November, 207 now).

Buyer mode is helping me get components faster. But I'm still in short supply of one type of dye.

What race are you? (some races don't have LoY robes)

You'll also need to be a researcher or be friends with a researcher in order to turn the runes and words into scribed swatches for you.

There is a reason there aren't a trillion 220+ tailors around. Quite simply because it is repetition that gets you so high. You always have Solstice robes as an option and till around 206 or so you will fail a good deal.

Agnostic Gnome. I've been making the ribbons for the robes but searching for a certain word to make a swatch seems really rare. I have a necro with 97 research. I've put a list of words together for him to lvl to 100 so I can get the nodrop LoY book. Funny thing about that is that prior to like the 16th I could have just bought skillups from my Guildmaster. You could have also bought skillups for tinkering too... didn't know that or I would have just bought 250 >< Last night I farmed the crap out of acrylia and made about 3 stacks of boning. granted the hides will be more rare for flawless... but I think it's more dependable and predictable than looking for certain words. I could be mistaken though.

Hah - I wish. Since gnomes start with 50 in tinkering, and skills other than research could not be trained past 21, training tinkering was never possible. It would have made getting it to 250 so much easier had it been, though . Tinkering has always been one of the hardest skills to GM, and I never pushed tinkering past 200 until elemental bow cams made it relatively cheap to do. Much respect for older tinkerers that toughed it out before there were easy skill ups in the game.

Arrrrgh. stop mentioning tradeskills. I have to do a load more work now the cap are at 300 skill.
I doubt ill bother with smithing and pottery though, and possibly not JC either, but ill do the rest :)

When I saw that the caps were being raised to 300, the first thing I thought of was you and how you'd react hehe. You poor tradeskill addicts have to be flipping out right about now hehe. You know you'll do smithing, pottery & JC eventually though - the lure of being in the 2100 club is too strong!!

It may have been a bug for a while but from what I can deduce there was a period that you could buy points for tinkering past 21. As for skill starting at 50, unless they changed it I couldn've swore it started at 16.

All Gnomes start with a tinkering skill of 50, but you can't advance it further until you reach level 16. Those threads are discussing a number of changes that impact a number of skills, but the removal of the ability to train beyond 21 affects only research. Until these changes, research has always been trainable to the cap (200 prior to the changes). I can guarantee you that you have never been able to train tinkering past 21.
