Guitar Brands

Post by cadalano »

I'm in the market for a new mid-quality electric. I've always liked Gibson and was shopping for a Les Paul, but I'm kinda curious now. What brands of guitar do you swear by?

well if you are looking at something in the price range of a Les Paul (~$2500), then i would definitely check out Paul Reed Smith as well.

I have an Ibanez from years ago, and i like the neck, but the electronics sucked, so i changed the pickups to Fender Strat and one Seymour Duncan.

I think if i was buying something in the $1500 range i'd look at a Strat probably. I really like the necks and the action on Fenders.

i try out all kinds of guitars when i go to guitar shops. the only electric guitar that feels right to me, when i play, is the strat. it's the only electric guitars (two of them) i own.

If you're on a budget, try out Air Guitar (tm)

The LP Studio or Studio Plus are both in the sub-$2000 price range and perform very well if you want a Gibson.

Seconding the PRS. I've also heard absolutely glowing things about Rondo guitars - http://www.rondomusic.net . Especially the Agile line - http://www.rondomusic.net/al3500prestblkch.html .

Followup: Don't be fooled by the sub-$500 pricetags on the Rondos, I know of a bunch of professional musicians who use them as gig guitars. The finish is supposedly excellent and the service of the company is top-notch from all reports.
