The Kevin Costner thing? (note I don't refer to it as a movie)

Speaking of which, the Postman didnt deliver my mail on Saturday.

Had they watched this inspirational film, they would know that in the future, no matter what the postman had to do his appointed rounds.

or whatever.

i wouldnt say it is in my top 10 though. i 'd say it was narrowly edged into 11th place by "You Got Served 2", which is not in production yet, but i know will be fucking hot as hell.

My primary memory from that movie is the line "come and get your love" from a song in the movie...and that "dogs of war" line by the guy from Armageddon.

Okay. Well. I am definitely alone on this one. I love this movie.

I can't believe more aren't moved by this movie like I am. /sigh

Then again, I love Costner and The Bodyguard, Waterworld, Dances with Wolves, etc.

Costner + any screenplay = pure ass

He seems to be able to take just about anything and make it mind numbingly boring.

If you are a Costner fan, than I suppose it would be enjoyable. However, I am no Costner fan, except for a handful of flicks including Bull Durham.

I really found the Postman to be ultra asinine and utterly worthless....I felt the same about Waterworld and Dances with Wolves as well though, so take that as it is. ;)

Sorry man, but you won't find many people who enjoyed that one! :P

I enjoyed Dances with Wolves. The story was good enough to overshadow Costner's acting. He directed that one so he's a better director than actor as Dances With Wolves won best picture.

I was hoping you meant 'Il Postino' ... oh god. I had hope for you for a second, but it was shot down.

This is as bad as Waterworld. You receive no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

Costner was good with Clint Eastwood in A Perfect World

and I'll throw in Tin Cup with a few one liners from The Bodygaurd.

that is all.

I have tried three times to watch Waterworld...It is like trying to watch water boil...I just can't get it done.

Kevin Costner...how he is famous is beyond me.

I will give the movie Open Range big thumbs up...Costner at his best imho...it doesn't hurt that Robert Duvall is wonderful as usual in the film...and Annette Bening is good too.

I will defer to Rottentomatoes.com...the holy grail of movie review sites:

Waterworld - RATING: ROTTEN - READING: 38%

The Postman - RATING: ROTTEN - READING: 13%

Open Range - RATING: FRESH - READING: 77%

As far as I'm concerned, I like the actor, he just is in such awful movies. He turned down good scripts and accepted far worse ones.

The only movie I really like from him is Field of Dreams, my favorite baseball movie.

Silverado was good, and he wasn't his normal boring, flat self.

Yeah, I'll have to agree that Silverado was Costner's best work.

While I enjoyed the movie, as well as Waterworld, I wouldn't rank that in my top 10 at all. I like movies dealing with the post apocolypse so that is where my enjoyment comes from. As I said however it wouldn't be in my top 10 at all (nor my top 50 I believe).

Didn't care for the Postman much at all, but as far as recent Costner movies go, I really enjoyed Open Range.
