Vote vote vote!

Post by Voronwë »

Just thought i'd throw out a flamevault poll on the polls!

excuse the exhaustive option choices, i to get a more interesting picture of the process!!

edit: i actually wanted to have one more option that was:

I voted for a mix of Rep/Dem/Ind candidates.

unfortunatley the above is the maximum allowed # of choices.

Going 3rd party this year. Soon as I can find a candidate that refuses to sling the mud, that person has my vote. Didn't happen this year and our third party person is actually pretty cool.

Add another option: Don't give a fuck about party lines and just voted for who I wanted in office.

Results overwhelmingly republican so far. I voted a mixed ticket myself, including some independant.

Couple of ballot initiatives here that I'm watching are to repeal a statewide sales tax on food and medicine (duh! Let's not make it harder on folks to live) which is being fought hard by a business coalition. Seems like a business gets a 2% commission for collecting the tax for the state. They don't wanna lose an easy revenue stream.

The other is to make certain instances of animal cruelty a class D felony instead of a class b misdemeanor. I can see the need for animal cruelty laws and there should be extreme punishment for those who needlessly hurt animals, but the group that's pushing it is a "semi-radical" group and the wording of the initiative could be construed to make slaughtering cattle for sale of their meat as "intentional cruelty".

we didnt have any particularly interesting ballot initiatives in Georgia.

some stuff about different tax status for docks / waterfront property used in the seafood industry. allowing boats that are used in seafood harvesting to be exempt from ad velorum tax. boring crap like that.

Good topic!

People who don't vote are fucktards. I will probably only vote for 2 or 3 candidates on my ballot but I am voting. I look at the issues and if I see something I like then I vote for that person. If there is a third party running then I always vote for them. A lot of times that is my protest vote for how the Republicrats(Republicans+Democrats) are ruining our government and wasting my hard earned tax dollars. Doesn't matter which Republicrat you vote in because they are only interested in their careers and getting that fat pension and bribe money.

Get out and vote though. Use you rights. The Republicrats don't want you to vote. They don't have a problem if only a bunch of old ladies are voting. Hardest part this election cycle has been getting the students to vote. Most are pretty disgusted with the system and how biased the media is. All I can say is, vote third party if you are worried. We may not win a lot but it guarantees us ballot spots later and in the case of WI, a 10% showing gives the party a spot on the State Elections Board.

So anyway go fucking vote. Don't be a fucktard window-licker.

The GOP grabbed up a few House spots here in FL, most of the state stuff (Attorney General, Agri. Commish), banned smoking in restaurants and workplaces, and brought back the death penalty. Fire up Ole Sparky, let's BBQ us some criminals!

No calls but we do have a new Governor now. Not the guy I voted for but that is the way of the majority. My guy got a whopping 10%.

10% can be good for a 3rd party candidate. it may mean that party gets a slot on the election board or similar body. it gives them a real foot in the door on the process, which is important.

Tiny steps. 10% is the most a 3rd party has received since the 1940's her in wisconsin. It gets us a spot on the election board too and we can make a difference there. Also the libertarian party spent 1/60th the amount of cash that the republicrats spent. I am very enthusiastic for what this does in my state to further 3rd party causes. It lets people know that there is a viable third party out there and I fully expect in the next election cycle that we will gain a few seats in our state legislature.
