National Treasure

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I really liked this movie. It was fun, adventurous, and informative. I didn't know it was a Disney film until I got there. It was pretty cool and the chick was really pretty hawt.

That sums up my feelings as well pretty much. It could have been a lot better but the movie was entertaining as it was. Ancient treasure/history and the secret society theme always catch my attention.

I think the movie could have had a little more adventure and less focus on stealing the document in the first hour of the film. The girl was "hawt" but she didn't add much besides her looks to the story : )

68/100

-marginal acting
-great idea for a movie
-it could have been so much more

This is a ripoff of "The DaVinci Code" secretly replacing the Catholic Church with the Founding Fathers!

Or something.

I saw the preview for it and decided it'd be better to wait for the video release.

Aye, when I walked out, I was thinking how much better The Divinci Code would have been.

Anyways, I hated it. It was despicably over-acted, the scenery was cheezy and cliche, the characters were boring and predictable, and so was the storyline. Such a cool idea, again, Davinci Code, but not pulled off very well at all.

Great movie to take your kids to, like the 8 to whatever age they let you take them to movies at age group. (as in its clean, fun)

From what I saw of the previews, it was far more, 'Angels and Demons' than it was 'The Davinci Code'. Except that unlike TDC, NT wasn't really based on any level of fact.

I like Tom Hanks as an actor. He needs a good movie after the last two flops of the guy in the airport movie and the polar express thing. (some may have enjoyed the guy in the airport thing but it stilll flopped at the box office)

I'm hoping The DaVinci Code is all it's cracked up to be. It should do well no matter what considering the success of the book.

I agree that Tom Hanks is a great actor - but I don't see him as any character in The DaVinci Code.

Angels and Demons subject matter is the Illuminati (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati), and one of the things the book alleges is that the seals on the back of the one dollar bill are illuminati/masonic symbols (I recall seeing something to the same effect in this movie's previews). I haven't seen the movie, but I agree with Noel that the subject matter is probably more Angels and Demons than Da Vinci Code.

eh? I was going by your first post on this thread saying Tom Hanks would be in Davinci. Didn't know you were kidding about it. I don't know anything about the cast for the movie.

Well I read neither of those books so I really can't compare. I enjoyed the movie for what it was meant to do, entertain. I found myself entertained and I was happy I spent my $5.50 for the matinee and then the $700000 on popcorn and a soda.

First, I'm being turbo misquoted in this thread

Secondly I can see how some of you may have misinterpreted what I said.
I wrote:but I don't see him as any character in The DaVinci Code.
I meant "he will be in the movie, but I don't see him fitting well as any character."

Don't underestimate teh Hanks.

I didn't think he could pull off the role of a gritty WWII captain -- until I saw Saving Private Ryan. He's one of the best actors of our time and will be excellent as Langdon.

For the record, I think Hanks is nearly a perfect choice to play Langdon, and I am by no means a Hanks fanboi. Remember, Langdon is JUST a college professor. You don't need the typical 'action hero' actor.

For those saying Hanks isn't good for the role of Langdon; I'd be interested to hear your suggestions for alternatives.

I thought it was mandatory to put Jude Law or Colin Farell in every freaking movie released now.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I've liked Jude Law's films. Enemy at the Gates was a great movie. As for Colin Farell, he played a pretty good Bullseye and is ok in niche roles but he's no Alexander or anything else that's not a psycho type role.

I always pictured Harrison Ford as Robert Langdon. In fact in A&D or DaVinci Code, I believe he states that he looks like Harrison Ford in a tweed jacket, or something to that affect.

Hanks will do fine as an adventuring professor type.

Christopher Walken should be in this movie. Maybe as the evil Opus Dei prelate?
