Changes to the guild system

Our designers are currently refining a few elements of the guild system. Chief among the upcoming changes is the fact that decay over time is going away; we will tune guild advancement rates to take this change into account. Additionally, status quests will be based on the player level rather than the guild level, which means you won't need to farm greys to advance your guild. Also, artisans will be able to earn status by performing tasks similar to the ones they now perform for their societies. This will allow artisans to become active and valuable patrons for their guild.

We believe these changes will benefit all types of guilds, from casual players to dedicated raiders.

I can't yet announce when these changes will go live, as we want to spend a good deal of time testing them internally before pushing them to the live servers. But I wanted to let you all know what was coming in the near future.

i haven't done any status quests but reading this made me think...

does 'you wont have to farm greys to advance your guild' really mean 'you can no longer advance your guild by farming greys' ?

sounds good about the artisan status quests.. did anyone else not know initially that you're supposed to use the abilities in the knowledge window to counter-act the problems that pop up during crafting? i kept hearing how involved and interactive crafting was, but made it to level 7 artisan before figuring it out.

Not only do you use those to counter-act the problems, but you also can use those to get better results during crafting even if problems don't occur. At level 10 crafting you get upgraded skills and you can chain cast the skills that increase progress and only cost power. You can see much better results in your outcome and get a lot more pristines that way.

When crafting, I am constantly hitting the actions. I very rarely get anything but a pristine item, even on first attempts. There are certain combinations that work better than others. Also, as I have found, it is possible to get pristine items with the durability bar completely maxed as well. It is great to get a pristine item and have both full green and blue bars.

Play around with the crafting actions. They are pretty powerful.

One word of caution though, it you are attempting to make something in a skill you have never used, say you are a craftsman who never tried to cook anything, use the lowest level actions you have, the newbie ones. If you don't you will fail often. The actions are meant to be grown into apparently.

the other day I was refining some iron and the little problem icons that flashed up were those for etching. I tried to counter with those same icon spells but it wouldnt hold. I ended up just randomly hitting the basic metalworking spells during the processing. Pristine was attained
