My first bad experience with EQII

Post by Seebs »

People are still in the mindset of the original EQ and its pissing me off.

People will solo camp quest mobs. I have to explain to them that we both will get experince and the quest item if we group. Still .. people will walk up and aggro the mob we are camping. Clueless.

Last night I ran across my first evil race in Butcherblock. had three level 15 melees and myself, the only healer.

We aggro an orange spider one dies and they all fucking lambaste me. I respond with 'the penalty effects me as well, its a shared group penalty. The troll is cussing, Ibasically said 'look, the game has been out two weeks, I have yet to figure some things out, and .. .fuck it. You guys know enough about the game heal yourself.

I gated and they continued to berate me. had to put some folks on ignore ... but for the first time .. I had no friends to vent to. That sucked.

Depressed I logged. Goddamn it.

Which is why I am now a MAGE. I hated if someone died in EQ when I was a Cleric, I would really hate it in EQ2.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

For some reason I didn't care much about experience debt, at least in beta, it didn't seem like a draw back really from going deeper and exploring a place.

Things like this are the reason I group as a last resort. Even as a cleric in EQ2, so far, I am able to hunt yellow/orange solo mobs and get great XP, and I hesitate to group because of the average intelligence level of newbies. If I do group, I attempt more of a leadership role, believing I can better judge the capabilities of the group after a fight or two.

This was our first fight. man, I need to get thicker skin. Considering scrapping my 90 completed quests and coming to a different server.

I dunno.

I'll solo for a while.

I really dont care when I die. XP is not really a concern of mine at the moment. Id rather stand and fight til the death than run away...unless Im obviously outmatched. Then a flee without a second thought. Lets me learn my capabilities and better improve.
