Minority Vote

Post by Avestan »

Another significant change in the number for this year's election came from Minority voting.

I have not seen the nationwide numbers for hispanic voting, but I know that Bush was a 12% improvement in the hispanic vote in Florida and a 10% jump in New Mexico.

He also saw a 2% improvement in the African American vote nationwide and it was 4% in Ohio.

I believe Bush is going to name the next Chief justice of the Supreme court as an Hispanic Judge and the democrats will not dare to oppose it. The Republican party is going to continue to gain the trust of minorities in this country.

A major difference in voting in many battleground states was also the Jewish vote. Some were reporting a 25-30% swing in the Jewish vote in Florida. This, no doubt, had a lot to do with the fact that there was no Lieberman on the democratic ticket this year, but Cush was also seen (rightly so) as the candidate who would not leave Israel high and dry.

The biggest difference between the two major parties is that the democratic party tries to live on the far left and work to appeal to the middle whereas the republicans are able to live more in the center and then work to solidify the far right.

That. . .and you can never count on the youth to vote. . .never. . .ever. . .ever. Everyone said this year was different. . .they were wrong. The youth are lazy. Period. Then they grow old and become republicans.

It is very good news Av.

It was also nice to hear Bush got the same amount of the gay vote he got back in 2000. (20%).

Bzzzzzzzt!

Bush is an extremist republican. Most of the republican party supports him. I'm sorry but 'I want a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage' is already extreme. That, and barring the supreme court from hearing any of the school pledge cases...

Bush is not an extremist republican. He has pissed off the fiscal conservatives a great deal by increasing spending in every federal department and granting a medicaid presription plan before fixing the heading-for-broke system. The only reason he wasnt booted by his base, as his father was by many giving protest votes to Perot, is that at this time most are more worried about a liberal doing anything about terrorism.

And he can propose any constitutional amendment he wants, the individual state legislatures would have to pass it, then it would go back to congress. His talking about a Marriage Amendment is as much hot air as is those crying about it.

Won't it be tough for them to sign court documents with a spray can?

Bush is absolutely not going to name a hispanic judge Chief Justice. He may name a hispanic judge to the court, but I am pretty sure that elevating a new justice to Chief would create a bit of an outcry.

Are these figures based on the same exit polls that were wildly divergant with the actual tallies in every state using those Diebold voting automators?

What do you mean Bush isn't an extremeist right wing freak? Hell he has Dick Cheney as his VP you can't get more right wing than that, look at his senate record.

At what point and after how much defeat do you recognize you are out of touch? Serious question.

Just because the opinion is coming from a minority doesn't make it any less valid. Maybe it isn't so much that the blue states are out of touch -- after all, California and New York probably have the most diverse populations. Maybe it's that the middle is too isolated and hasn't learned to appreciate diversity -- in opinions, lifestyle, etc.

I love the fact that I am "out of touch" with middle America. In fact, I celebrate it every day; there's a small ceremony where I light a candle and watch clips from the Daily Show.

Do you really think being in the majority makes you absolutely correct in all your beliefs? Serious question.
