Kinda limiting

7 PM poll closings? Jeez, suck to get stuck at work w/ some of those time restrictions. Anyone find poll closings before 8 pm, hell, even 9 pm a little restricting?

Aren't you like legally entitled to leave work to vote if there is no other time? I thought that was true...

All of the auto-workers get the whole day off to vote, as do most of the people who work for companies that deal only/mostly with the autoworkers. Living in Michigan, I know a shitton of people who didn't have to work today.

You would have to have a pretty shitty boss for them to not let you out of work to go and vote. I manage a test team, and I told all of the people working for me that they were free to leave to vote whenever they wanted.

It is, but it doesn't necessarily mean a 7 PM closing time is restricting to employees who aren't informed that they are entitled.
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, just seemed pretty early to me

While we're on the subject of things closing early what the fuck is with shit closing early on Sunday?!?!

7pm seems far too early but you know I do gotta get home and get to sleep to get up at 5am to milk the cows. What year is this again?

CNN stated Georgia polls close in 35 minutes from now but I just saw a scene where Georgia voters were still waiting in a huge line. Will the polls stay open until all those voters get through?

Yes

As long as you were on the line before 7:00 you can vote. It's kind of like the DMV!

Based on initial vote projections (my vote), I'm prepared to make the call: BUSH TAKES ARIZONA!

I remember, after listening to all the screwed up state projections in 2000, being in Sebilis and Juctice, playing his gimp Smashgud, called the Chef Camp from the zone-in. I quickly used early projections to our advantage and said something like, "Based on two dead frogloks at the zone-in, Veeshan Vault is prepared to make the call: SMASHGUD TAKES CHEF!"

If early projections are good enough for the networks, they're good enough for claiming EQ camps!

By law, your work is required to let you leave for 2 hours max. They dont have to pay you,but they have to let you go.

No kidding - the last 2 Halloween's I took the kids mall walking where the stores hand out candy. The mall closed at 6PM, I wasn't out of the house in cosumes with the kids until almost 7.

The one thing that has amazed me about this US election (other than the amount of coverage on UK news - it's almost ono a par with our own elections. Ok two things! two!). . .is the actual voting. 4+ hour queues and polls close at 8pm?
Here were we have a proper democracy and multiple parties that can actually be distinguished from one another the polls open at 7am and stay open til 10.30pm in most areas. I've never queued more than 5 mins to cast a vote and most of the time just wander in, vote and wander out again. It boggles the mind.

Hehehe ya, over here, the only wait I have is when old people start talking to the ballot people. 5 minutes max.
