HERO is certainly a great flick but wouldn't be my pick of the year.
I want to look into that Danish movie....anyone know where I can see it/buy it/download it?

Sorry Icknay, its to find for download, but not sure you can find english subtitles for it. But you can try, just search for "Terkel i Knibe"
But if you can, its worth seeing.

Well, if you wanna see the trailer (danish voices, no subs, but the movie itself should give you some idea on the animation style and the movie itself), go to http://www.terkeliknibe.dk/, click on Trailer in the menu, and click on "Størrelse Terkel" under "Se trailer"

I watched the extended version... And I thought it looked nice. But overall it was fairly boring. I think the fight scenes are what made it that way for me. I'm not a fan of the whole flying around fighting style. Not saying it's bad, just that I don't like it.

I'd give it a 6 at most. As art it's beautiful. As a movie it's just so-so.

Finally saw this movie.

A quick explaination of the movie is twice the flying of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, with half the plot and character development.

There's only so much you can do with flying swordplay maneuvers and super long dramatic closeup shots. This movie is a good example that too much of a good thing can be bad.

Any movie that has Zhang Ziyi (Jiao Long - super ninja from Crouching Tiger under Jade Fox's tutelage and lover of Dark Cloud) gets bonus points from me. It was disappointing that she only played a semi immortal in this movie. I'd rate her capable of killing about 100 men in Hero while the rest of the main characters could clearly take on 1000+ at once.

In another comparison to Crounching Tiger...Broken Sword, Nameless and even Flying Snow were pretty tough but could these people last more than a few seconds against Master Li Mu Bai? He could defeat them using a twig as a weapon much less the total carnage that would be unleashed if he possessed the Green Destiny during the fight.

Nameless vs Li Mu Bai is no contest and I'm not sure the combined might of Nameless, Broken Sword and Flying Snow could make a match out of it against him.

I'm giving this movie a 6/10 with a bonus +1 for the Zhang Ziyi factor. I almost deducted a point for excessive use of various colored sheets for effect throughout the movie...red...blue...white...green. I like Jet Li's movies but his talents weren't taken advantage of in this movie.

7/10 with zero replay value. (Crouching Tiger has lots of replay value)
