From the guy handling Bush's campaign. He said something along the lines of 'there's going to be a surpise in Octobor' or some such that had several of the people on this board and news agencies running around trying to figure out what it was...

If I remember correctly, an October Surprise is the name given to an event that takes place durring the October of a voting year caused by the party still in power: such as a posting of "unexpected" job growth or something else that could bear more vote on the outcome of the election; in this case, the capture of Osama or the announcement that country x is producing nuclear weapons and we have indisputable proof (that may or may not be voided out later).

If I were a betting man, I would bet that Osama has either been captured or killed already.

That said, no 'October Suprise' will suprise me... especially not from this administration.

They will find WMD's in Iraq and clear ties linking Iraq to Al-Qaeda.

Option 2 will be raising the terror alert to orange and going to defcon 3 the morning of November 2nd with Bush making announcements on TV all day about Osama being captured.
