he's got a decent eye, he just swings for the fences every damn time... 32 doubles (he runs like crap) .567 slugging %, I wouldn't mind him eitherAevian Dreaklear wrote:Not my first choice but I'd take it. Just saying I'd take groundouts over K's. Dunn's a weird guy. I don't know how he manages to get that many walks and that many strikeouts.

I dont mind Dunns k's at all. I'll accept 200ks from a 3rd year player with that kind of production. The man is a beast! He is the one that hit a ball into the Ohio River (and that aint no McCovy Cove shot)
To contrast Dunns (192ks) the Reds have Sean Casey batting in front of him. Yesterday he struck out for only the 35th time this season. Sean Casey is perhaps the slowest runner in all of baseball. If Dunn made more contact his GIDPs would skyrocket with Casey running in front of him.
Dunn is literally a Hit or Miss guy

He is on the Reds and therefore never has to worry about the playoffs.Voronwë wrote:that is too many Ks and there is nothing good about it. Quality pitchers can own a guy like that, which makes him borderline worthless in the playoffs.
For the Reds though, he was doing what they needed. On a pitiful team, they didn't need a guy like Dunn to come in and hit .340 and not strike out. It is a team filled with .245 hitters that are not on base often. Getting a single from Dunn does jack and shit. They need a guy who is swinging for home runs to put asses in the seats. If he fans he sits down and rests for the next at bat.
The REAL record this year is just one that is being extended by a team who DOES see the playoffs every year. 13 in a row for the Braves....and that is after all the shit talking by ESPN over the last year. Fuck you Harold Reynolds. Eat that crow you fuckstain! That goes for the rest of those biased pricks as well!

Anyone notice that Dunn has over 100 walks to go along with his 190 K's. His OBP is in the .380's and his OPS is in the .950's. Along with his already mentioned HR, RBI's and Runs on a pretty dismal team, I would say he can bat in the 4-spot for just about any team.

Actually, the most significant thing this record signafies (with regards to the Reds) is that Adam Dunn was healthy all year. Youre not gonna strike out 200 hundred times if you pull a hammy jogging in the outfield, or if you cant swing a bat because of a sore thumb.
On a team with Ken Gimpy Jr. and Barry (I refuse to retire) Larkin, and Austin Brittle Kearns, Adam Dunn is a savior. A player that actually plays a full season without landing on the DL. That in itself is a major accomplishment on a Reds team.
So again...Strike Out all you want Adam. Just keep playing hard every day.

I would like to point out that I'm glad Sean Casey has had a good year finally. He's always hit for a decent average, but never put up big numbers. Kudos to you Sean Casey, the best batter on the Reds. I'd also like to say that I think he has the best nickname, "The Mayor." Man I'd like to be called the Mayor.
