Debate Tonight

Post by Siji »

The debates were staged under a rigid set of rules negotiated by the candidates' representatives to limit spontaneity and opportunities for back-and-forth exchanges.
So basically, it'll be pointless. Bush is afraid of any situation that makes him think on his toes or talk outside of a pre-written speech. Fucking scumbag.

Nah, it's par for the course in these debates.
Very little spontaneity.

It was from both sides you liberal fuckstain. The Democrats insisted on having it in a meat locker to keep Kerry's tan from running.

This has zero to do with republicans or democrats. Debates are always like this. I blame the the independents.

Ummm both. Also today the Kerry campaign tried to stop the use of the red light blinking in the teleprompter telling the candidate their time is up, because he finds it distracting. It couldn't be because he wants to be able to ramble on and on and on and on?

Matter of fact, he doesnt want to and has been preparing his answers/comments to be at least 10 seconds shorter. Quality and not quanity.

This isnt a debate. This is a short ad for each one. Both sides gave and gived to make this debate work. Matter of fact, as reports say, if Bush didnt have it set up in this manor aka quesitoning eachother, he wouldnt have even agreed to a debate.

You have to give something up, just to have something and that is what kerry did.

They are both having to go to rediculous lengths because they know how simple, impressionable, and gullible the American people are. We are slaves to the soundbite.

I hear they're filming the debates only from the waist up so we can't see the hands shoved up the candidates' asses.

Yeah we have some living proof on this board (read: Midnyte, Cartalas, Metanis etc).

The debates are a waste of good air time. Oh wait, nothing good would be shown on the channels anyway..

Any debate where the questions and discussion are restrained is a waste of time. Shame on Bush for being unable to deviate from a carefully scripted format. Shame on Kerry for being pussy enough to bow to it.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

How the fuck is under 70 degrees a meat locker? Bush people will stop at nothing to stab at John Kerry, look at the spin on that crap. You turn a completely reasonable request to have the temperature below 70degrees into a stab at Kerry, saying that he is a "sweater"?
