Hamm in "court" over olympic medal now...

Post by Wulfran »

American Paul Hamm argued before the sports world's highest court to keep his Olympic gymnastics gold medal Monday, and the hearing adjourned without a decision from the panel.
We all know the judges fucked up. Depending on who you believe, their errors may have handed the Korean kid the gold or driven him out of the medals altogether. My question is why can't they just admit the judging stank, overhaul it, and just let the result stand? Its not as if they found these guys guilty of steroid abuse or something that blatantly went against the rules...

I wonder how the Bronze Medalist feels about all this. He was a Korean if I remember correctly. If this other korean wins his appeal and gets awarded the Gold, t bumping Hamm to a Silver, thus bumping the Silver winner to Bronze, thus booting his fellow countrymen out of his medal.

Id be kinda of pissed to lose my bronze medal.

The Bronze Medelist is the one complaining. I think that Hamm would drop to second and the Silver Medalist would go to third.

Who really cares though, we are talking about Men's gymnastics and they are forgotten until the next Olympics anyway.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I don't think the Korean will win this appeal. There are very specific rules about appealing rulings, and apparently the Korean gymnastics federation did not follow most of these rules. The olympic movement is a huge stickler on rules, and if you don't follow them you usually get screwed. Hamm followed all the rules, the Korean federation did not.
