It's been announced: The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
Expected to be for next generation consoles and the PC, so we're probably a couple years out still.

If it's 1/4 as good as Morrowind, it will be 4 times better than everything else.

I never really understood all the rave about Morrowind - I found it pretty boring after a while. Way too much uninteresting running around in towns where one house looked exactly like the next.

Morrowind took a solid 20 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Just think what I could have accomplished if you added those 20 mintues to my 525,600 minutes in EQ.

Morrowind:

The world is HUGE.
The archetecture varies from region to region.
The visual style is totally unique.
Character development is freeform.
Character progression is open ended.
Stories and plots are intertwined.
It's infinately replayable.

I've played through Morrowind with about 10 different character builds and still haven't completed all the guildhouse and side quests.

I got tired of morrowind real fast. The experience gains were way too monotonous and the scenery was too bland.

Now Fable! This game is kicking some allmighty ass! Variety all over the place. Gameplay is far superior to Morrowind. The details make this game pop. Side games of blackjack and golf. Weddings. Chicken kicking. Fist fights. Home buying. Boasting. Trophy displays. Main quests. Side quests. Combant Multipliers. Experience decisions. And overall superior graphics.

Morrowind has a unique atmosphere and very few games manage to evoke one of those succesfully. It's also a gma eyou can pick up and put down quite easily. I've been playing it on and off since it came out and can feel another "on" period coming up soon as I've just finished NWN:HotU.

Exactly!
I find it so easy to immerse myself in Morrowind's game world.

What did you think of HoTU?
