The Transporter

Post by noel »

Sucked. KTHX.

Too many so-called 'directors' watched too many John Woo movies and got a hard-on. This movie is a by-product of that.

The fight scenes were well choreographed, but far too gratuitous. The movie played out like a bad Double-Dragon videogame with a plot that wasn't even as good.

I've now got my sights set on the new James Bond as an action movie that might not suck.

I heard Red Dragon sucked too... Which was suprising since Edward Norton is a great actor.

It was good?

Norton is a great actor, I loved his work in the Heist movie where he played a part of "Pretend Cobs" The one in which some Canadians stole a french scepter from a custom's Vault.
But as far as Im concerned Anthony Hopkins = Best actor of em all (with the exception of Sean Connery, Benny Hill, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Denzel Washington, Robert Williams who are very very close behind him)

Quite. Much better than Hannibal, very close to being as good as Silence of the Lambs.

The Score... yeah, that was good too. Death to Smoochy was good too, in a dorky/sadistic sort of way.

Red Dragon was very very good.

I downloaded and watched Transporter last night, and regardless of how impossible it all was, it was good enough to see...

I liked this movie. I didn't show up looking for deep or mind-expanding plotline. Balls to the wall action is what I wanted, and The Transporter delivered.
Don't blame me if you see my old characters acting like asses.

Personally I loved, and hated Insomnia at the same time

*SPOILER ABORT IF J00 DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS*

Especially at the end when Both Pacino and Williams die. Seeing as Pacino's motivation for keeping Williams' character safe from the police probe was because he wanted to avoid having his work ethic called into question, which in turn would result in dozens of rapists/killers being released from prison. In the end when Pacino dies he stops the female officer from destroying the proof against him.
Now...I loved the movie up till that part...What the fuck happened? Did she rat him out? Did she keep the proof to herself in order to prevent murderers from going free?!

The madness...the madness...cant sleep...screw the No Drowsy Daquil

Pacino instructed her not to destroy incriminating evidence against him, because doing so would be immoral. She'd be saving him, but she'd be damning herself -- by becoming an unwitting member of his own circle of lies.

Pacino's character didn't want her to follow in his footsteps. He had been a good cop, but not a 'great' cop. He was technically adept at what he did, but he lacked the ultimate conviction of character and commitment to total justice that would make him a truly 'great' detective. He saw that Hillary Swank's character had the potential for greatness that he once had. But he also saw that she was headed down the same path he had taken (i.e., lying and cutting corners), and he wanted to stop her from doing so.

I've heard good and bad things about Red Dragon.
I think I'd enjoy it more than Hannibal, which had its moments for me, but it showed Lector in a more human view, whereas I prefer him in Silence of the Lambs.
Anthony Hopkins plays the part extremely well in both films, be interesting to see him again.

I haven't heard anything about red dragon, is it a bad adaption of manhunter where hannibal is all of a sudden the main character , or is it actually an all new movie ?

Hannibal isn't the main character in Red Dragon. Norton/Finnes are the main focus. Hopkins is a secondary character, but still crucial to the plot.

ok, thats what I was hoping, i figured maybe the way movies go, for the screen they might try and make hannibal more than he was in the book.

Red Dragon was a really good movie.... in 1986 when Michael Mann made it originally as Manhunter. Edward Norton is a wonderfual actor, but having read the book many times and seeing Manhunter, Eddie just lacks the gritty intensity the part requires. William Petersen embodied the role of a mentally exhausted, scarred profiler who has spent too much time in the minds of evil and deranged killers. Norton always looks to me too innocent and young. It was nice to see Hopkins as Lector, tho...bit really, Brian Cox did a great job before Hopkins came later and MADE the part:)

And sorry, but Transporter kicked ass for what it was. Jason Statham is fun to watch. Loved him in Snatch!

Which is why I saw The Transporter. I think I was just expecting something a lot more serious. I still think the plot was total garbage, but yeah Jason was good and the fight scenes were well choreographed.

Well don't see the Mean Machine. I watched it because it had Jason Statham, Jason Flemyng and Vinnie Jones as the star. It was an all around stupid fucking movie. An English version of The Longest Yard, which in itself sucked too.
