They could help Bush win...

- Mayor Michael Bloomberg
- Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani
- Senator John McCain (R-AZ)

Apparently the main networks won't be showing McCain and Rudy speak. Why would they really? These two speakers have the widest appeal of all the Republicans involved in the RNC. I'm sure glad they showed us Ted Kennedy and Al Sharpton though!

Uhh Mid...did you actually watch the DNC and if so on what channel? Not a single main network broadcast Kennedy or any of those 'evil liberals' who were not keynote speakers...the only channel that did was the Comcast Network (here in Jersey anyway)

Michigan is a state dominated by democrats though, so they get better coverage here.

Didn't catch too much of the DNC here in Ohio but I didn't really look too hard for it at the time either.

CPAC carried them (the Canadian C-SPAN type channel). I imagine they'll carry the RNC as well. As for the American networks, none of them had major coverage for the stations we get (Bufallo based affiliates). I'm sure some speeches may have been shown tho.. and CNN of course.

Well Kelshara that is because in terms of political balance Ohio is closer than most, from the republican stronghold of Cincinnati ranging up to the democrat Cleveland.

Cleveland is more democrat? I was not aware of that actually.. moved closer to it this summer. Here I live, which is a nice area, they seem extremely mixed with possibly a slight balance towards republican.. but I've also met quite a few republicans who are unhappy with Bush here.

It's only preseason but Monday Night Football is on as well.

I'm sure CNN will cover it and if anyone is remotely serious about seeing the speeches they can find CNN on their program guide or CSPAN if they want to see it in spanish. :!:

Here's the schedule:

They are closing the RNC with Wacky Pataki? That is a mistake. McCain should be in that slot. Of course notcing the complete lack of any minority speakers (Ron Paige is about as black as Bryant Gumble), I am wondering if the GOP is ditching the entire concept of masking their BS and just going to parade their ultra right crispy bigotry like a badge of honor. Kinda sad that the only women they could roll out were the canadates trophy wives too. Oh well, I guess I can TiVo the McCain part and watch Arny and GW to see who has the poorer command of the english language. The rest of it looks pretty damn dull and I am not sitting through another GOP snoozer after Dole's convention.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
