If John interviews him like he interviewed Dean, it will be great.
If John interviews him like he interviewed Clinton, I will be pissed, because I will have missed tough crowd from falling asleep
Me too. This is prolly the only interview of either candidate I'll watch this year. Jon Stewart has a way of asking uncomfortable questions so that it's not only funny, but more insightful than a lot of people give him credit for.
I will say this for sure: John Kerry has big brass balls for doing this, and my respect for him went up a notch. A show like DTS is a usually a wildcard, which is why you won't see Dubya on it, ever.
"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt
I'll definitely be watching! I'm constantly amazed at the phenomenon that is The Daily Show. A sattirical news show that actually has some clout when it wants to. The fact that politicians actually watch it is great, although I bet they get peeved now and then
Halfway through the interview and so far I'm not impressed. Nothing new, nothing specific. A lot of hands movements though and that does seem to be a big thing among politicians. Amusing though, thanks to Jon Stewart.
Okay it's over. I thought it was interesting. Again, nothing new or interesting. I like him talking about new sources of energy though. Overall a very soft interview from Jon Stewart, but entertaining.
Translation:
The interview itself was interesting, but there was nothing new of interest within the interview itself.
That's like saying you thought it was interesting that there was a circus in town, even tho the midgets were only 5'2 and the elephant was comprised of two fat ladies in a grey jumpsuit and so wasn't very interesting itself.
Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.
I saw it, well rather I saw most of it untill I muted it. Pretty boring.
Then Tough Crowd came on, I cant remember the old guy's name, but hes on of the funniest guys hes had on the show. They need him on a lot more.

Yeah he's an old veteran of comedy. He's a bit too racial for me. Within comedy it's funny and all, but he goes a little too far at times. I'm so stoked they put Tuff Crowd back on again, instead of that terrible Graham Norton show.
i thought the interview was nothing special. there were a couple of moments where Kerry looked a bit like a tool, and a couple of moments where he had some good exchanges.
all in all, the point of this is getting him out in front of a particular demographic that is admittedly much more friendly to a Democrat than a Republican. But still not really representative of his "base".
a lot of the Daily Show viewers are people who haven't really particiapated in politics very much in the past, and may this time, so it is a good move to go on the show.

Where did you get this fact? I would think people who watch the Daily Show are very well informed to understand most of what is going on.
I actually caught some of it.. I do wish he (and Bush as well) would move on to some new issues. I liked his talk about alternative energy sources though. He also raised a couple of good other points, and had some humor in a couple of the exchanges. Average interview overall.
That said, would be great if he is reaching new voters and they decide to vote wether for or against him. More people voting is always a good thing.

Heh. I think that Voro's job entails dealing with ratings numbers, so he's in a better place to comment than I am, but...
I believe that the Daily Show's key demographic is young (18-35) people. Historically at least the bottom half of that demo is the lowest turnout for voting each year. I know that I'm in that demographic and I've never voted before and I'm going to this year.
I enjoyed seeing Kerry on the show, as I hadn't really seen much of him in a situation like that. There was nothing particularly groundbreaking, but he seemed to have a sense of humor and came off as a more likeable guy than I'd perceived him as prior to being on the show.

yeah my job does, but i'm not looking at the Nielsen numbers of TDS on any regular basis, or claiming any expertise on their demographic.
I wasn't trying to really make a big sweeping statement about the Daily Show. I agree with you that the viewers may tend to be politically savvy. That wasn't what i was saying. I was saying they tend to be people who don't turn up in Gallup Survey's as "Likely Voters" because they didnt vote in 2000 or 2002.
i wasnt saying they are "dumb" or "naive". I was just saying that large segments of them (like Sylvus for example) aren't people who necessarily define themselves as Democrat or Republican.
They are the mythical "UNDECIDED VOTERS", hehe. NOt all of them, just a segment of them.
That doesnt mean they won't vote in 2004 though. In fact most people think they will - which is why so many politicians go on that show =).

Ive only watched that show a few times and i always thought the obese white guy from last comic standing or whatever always ruined it. I have no idea how anyone can think hes funny.
Seeing a pissed off 600 pound guy trying to act "ghetto" or "black" isnt funny...one of those things that make you go "hmmm"
That and Collin Quinn was never really that funny, il take crossballs or the daily show anyday

That seems to be the running theme or thought for most people. He's been painted as such a stiff boring person.. that worked with Gore. It's not going to work with Kerry. He's nowhere near the same class as Clinton, but he's nowhere near the same class as Gore either.
Ralphie Mays. Yea he sucks hard. Thankfully he hasnt been on too many shows, the only reason hes on the damn show was because some fucks had sympathy for him on the first Last Comic Standing.
