Oh right. I thought this was a thread where you tar all the followers of a religion with the same brush based on the actions of an extremist minority.

On the other hand the old testament has its share of blood and thunder pronouncements along the lines of "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live".

The Middle East stopped being a seat of learning when the Roman Empires fell and the trade routes between Europe and Asia dried up. The Arabs, denied of easy taxation and/or pillage from these roads, began squeezing their Persian subjects, which led to centuries of infighting, much like their feudal counterparts in Europe.

So while blaming the Christians and the Crusades for the fall of the Mid East civilization is easy and convenient, it's not exactly the truth.
