Nomar to the Cubs, Orlando Cabrera and Doug Mientkiewics to Boston, Alex Gonzales to Montreal...with other names moving as well.
God dammit, I'm a Boston fan, and a Nomar fan...and I think this is fairly stupid.

Recap of most trading done in last couple days. Mets fans should be looking up with acquisition of 2 pitchers.
Also Randy Johnson trade deadline is sometime today.

yeah trading Nomar was a bad idea.
basically the Boston front office sucked dick on the whole Nomar situation. They alienated their best player by courting ARod to play short, and not only do the Yankees get ARod, they get him to play 3rd not short, because they told Scott Boras to suck a dick, Jeter was staying at short.
it shows you what having some balls will get you. IN this case, the Yankees having balls got them ARod. THe Red Sox not having balls leaves them without ARod OR Nomar.
nice fucking work you fucking idiots.
several General Mangers trying to do too much with the trades if you asked me. THe Mets are out of it, so i don't know why they tried to "make a move" getting Benson and V. Zambrano. Atlanta showed them what time it was tonight with that mess. Sayonara bitches, 8 games out.

Didn't the ARod to Boston trade get called off because the player's union wouldn't ok ARod giving up money on his contract? Oh and yea giving up Nomar was a bad move, maybe the Cubs can get rid of their bad luck by passing more to Boston. Now they can have the curse of the Bambino and the curse of Nomah.

First, Nomar didn't want to play there any longer, so don't piss and moan about his departure. Manny is having his BEST year coming off of waivers, he just doesn't give a shit and pounds the hell out of the ball.
One game does not a Benson trade make. You can sour that grape all you want to as an Atlanta fan, he'll do just fine w/ a Met uniform. I'm sure he's already got a deal post season's end so long as he meets certain milestones (obviously, tonight won't help but he's sure as fuck better than Seoh). Not sure I understand that Kazmir deal as he was one of the two "untouchables" in the Mets minors forever. Probably will be worth a hell of a lot more at the end of this season when more free agents pop up. From what I've seen of him, Tampa will be pleased. Good control, excellent heat, only 19 and a leftie to boot. He'll be up in Tampa by year's end though so they'll get to watch. FYI, the other untouchable is Wright at third.
Boras is a putz, most of his guys have been fucked of late. However, A-Rod likes being a Yankee, you can just tell. And he makes a hell of a third baseman to boot. A wicked athelete regardless of how you feel about him personally.
Also, I'm not crying over Contreras' release, i just wish Seattle was willing to part w/ Moyer. Good junk baller and a leftie is sorely needed. I know nothing about Loaiza except that he's another righty.

LOL sour grapes as a Braves fan over the Benson trade?
yeah i am very worried about a career 42-50 player being traded to a mediocre team with no bullpen who is 8 games behind us, not including the 2 teams in between the Mets and the Braves who actually have some decent players in the field.
i was just pointing out that Howe made a managerial misstep by starting Benson. His 2 previous starts were against the Braves. The latter of those 2, he lost, and the Braves got good swings off of him. Moreover, he was working with a new catcher - one who is not nearly as good of a receiver as who he is used to - so it would have been better to have pushed him to Tuesday. Let Zambrano go today on his normal turn, the Braves haven't seen him, and any team that does any scouting knows the Braves do shitty their first time against a pitcher.

It's a good move for the Cubs, as it was the one offensive position with a glaring weakness. Hopefully he brings some focus and leadership to the team, as well as a good bat.

As a Mets fan, I have mixed feelings about this trade.
Mets bullpen: As a whole, absolutely terrible. OK, they have been overworked, but they have been consistently terrible and much of the Mets slip out of contention is due to them, yes, I am talking about you Franco/Stanton/Bottalico/etc.! :
To get these 2 new pitchers(one of which gave up 7 earned runs to ATL yesterday), they gave up Ty Wigginton, who has been on fire since the beginning of July. He is a fair defensive 3rd baseman who shows good agility at 2nd and 1st as well. He can hit for power and average, and is a smart baserunner, despite his average speed.
Well, the Mets have a crowded infield and David Wright being brought up made that message pretty clear. However, Wright is unproven in the Majors, but I guess he will get his chance to sink or swim.
I do think DeJean was a good bullpen addition though. There is a bit of hope left.
Despite this year looking like previous ones for the Mets, I understand the moves made....

I was surprised about the Nomar trade, given all of the irony if the Cubs actually can pull something off this year.

Make it 9 games out Mets fans. AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH
The Braves are threatening to run away with the division yet again. One minor move that netted them a lefty reliever that they needed...and the Dodgers are paying half of his salary for them to take him. Chipper is starting to heat up...their top 4 starters went something like 17-0 in July.....Mark DeRosa is riding pine....Smotlz is being used for 2 innings a pop (which just REEKS of getting him conditioned to start in the postseason) and all is well in Atlanta. Where the fuck is ESPN now? Those Brave-hating fags have fucking completely stopped even mentioning them now that they are back to dismantling the East. Fuck you Petie Gammons and Jayson Stark!
