Shows it at $50.

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/243366.asp

That is the $90 version, a "collector's edition".

What the difference is, from ebGames web site:
EBGames wrote:The Everquest II Collector's Edition includes: "Spell book" DVD holder, bonus DVD with exclusive video assets, exclusive art book, cloth map and collectible coin with velvet pouch.
Is it worth $40, doubt it.

I'm liking the Spellbook DVD holder.

WTF is that?

For just about everyone, the only thing you want to see that's EQ related is on your screen.

OEM version please!

I have it now - from BitTorrent. Creating eleventy billion unique characters is fucking addictive; I spent several hours last night making different characters.

EDIT: Hell, my wife even helped out to make an incredibly sexy wood elf and an only slightly less sexy high elf. ;)

Nice : ) I'll have to look for it on the newsgroups. What's the size of the file? 600mb or so?

Not buying it.
Pre-Release
ETA: 11/15/04
That's less than 4 months. And the open beta hasn't even started from what I gather. Sounds like another quality SOE product in the making,

  • There is an impressive amount of customization for each race.
  • Humanoids can alter eye brow shape, curvature, height, nose size and shape, lip size and shape, chin size and shape, skin tones, hair colouring, eye colouring, tatoos/woads/shrouds/runes/etc. It is almost a full game in itself to play with the character creation.
  • The customizations on the face need a little work because some race/sex combinations do not allow some of the sliders to make any significant alterations (e.g. troll and vah'shir brow sliders).
  • The hair colours do not offer enough shades. The brunettes do not have a wide enough range, and the blondes yield fake hair colouring. They should adopt the colour cone used for the skin/fur tones rather than the bars they have now.
  • The eye colour cone is fantastic.
  • The hair styles for many races do not offer enough "normal" hairstyles.
  • The human models need an overhaul to support better racial variations.
  • The rags that the models are crap - at all texture resolutions.
  • The animation of the figures while standing still gives a much greater sense of life than EQLive by having the models blink and shift subtly.
  • It should be possible to make the women's breasts smaller. Perky 32-34D cup 5'2 wood elves is a little excessive.
  • The aging texturing system for human, gnomes, and halflings needs a lot of work.
  • The Erudites look fantastic in my opinion.
  • Iksar males need some work, including scale pattern variations and allowing the sliders to really adjust the muzzle size a lot more.
  • Hair textures need to be significant reworked. I can do better in Photoshop just screwing around, without producing a huge file.
  • Halfling beards don't have enough "good" choices.
  • The accessories that certain races have are a nice touch.
  • The ability to adjust "size" is nice.
  • Skin tones offer good options for many races.
  • The freckles and blush on the faces is subtle, but enhances the faces.

I liked the following models:
  • Wood Elven males (most likely candidate for my main, Archeiron's grandson or whatever)
  • Wood Elven females (hawt!)
  • High Elven females
  • Iksar females
  • Vah'shir males
  • Barbarian males
  • Dwarven males
  • Ogre males
  • Ratonga
  • Erudites

Excellent post Arch! I know you didn't cut and paste because only a euro would use "colouring" : )

I like it a lot. Theres plenty of variety with hair, skin color, the way your eyes nose and lips look. I also really enjoy the graphics. I know they aren't quite humanlike yet, almost there. But they are the best graphics out there so far that I've seen. I really reccomend just fooling around with it. You might find yourself spending hours toying with it :D

Don't know if you wanted a screenshot of the actual creation tools or not, but here's a screenshot of the Erudite Warden(Druid) I'll be playing.

P.S. Sorry for the double post, I don't know how to quote two people at once.

Well, I took a couple minutes to take some screenies for you all.

All these scenes are animated in game and you can zoom, pan, tilt, rotate to your heart's content also.
