HELP!

Post by Pherr the Dorf »

Ok I have a virus that was never opened, it was picked up by AVG and deleted... odd thing tho, the scanner is still picking it up.

Virus identified I-Worm/netsky.Q

is found in file
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{D486CB73-471E-BOE3-74029EAA0534}\RP145\A0008119.exe

To remove this virus run AVG

welllllllll when I run AVG it comes up clean, and when I try to get into the system volume files it says I am not allowed in there... sooooo how do I get a virus out of a file that a virus scanner won't fucking scan?

I offer 1 meeeelion VV's out of Xou's VV account :D

use a remote scanner like housecall and see if it picks anything up. If it does, you might want to reinstall your anti virus. There may also be a special case with the virus, so you might want to wait for someone more knowledgable on the matter.

Turn system restore off to clear the restore cache, then back on... (might wanna make a restore point then.)

Use the Symantec Netsky Virus Removal Tool found here:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/av ... Netsky.exe

You can go here to see a full list of the tools for specific virus infections

Problem was it was in a restore, but by clearing the cache it removed it from the restore. The virus never actually ran, windows just decided it would be good to save that in case I later wanted to infect my computer like an idiot.
