There is no question that everyone thought Saddam posed a threat with WMD's, both Dems and Repubs. The difference would have been made, they say, by thinking out a response and getting tons more international support prior to an invasion as to avoid the mess we currently find ourselves in. That's all it really boils down to, the dems say they would have taken things much slower and would have been less headstrong. EVERYONE thought he had wmd's, but like myself, dems wanted some proof and a huge following of int'l support before resorting to an invasion.

If things went slower with a large int'l following and support(not talking 160,000 troops, and 158,000 of them being Americans), the scenario would be "ok, Saddam duped us and our intelligence was faulty". As it stands right now with our we don't need anyone attitude, it's "Saddam duped America, and America's intelligence is faulty, they had no right to invade without our consent"

However a dem would have let the weps inspections go longer, not found anything, and perhaps used another excuse, with int'l support, to invade. They never said we could not inspect an area as far as I know. The closest they came to saying no to an inspection was when they wanted to inspect one of Saddams many palaces, they objected, but they got to inspect anyway. they mainly just delayed the inspection for as long as they could.

Entering a country and doing inspections at gunpoint is not practicing diplomacy. These are somewhat civilized times, or at least I would like to think so.
