XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU JULY 08, 2004 10:09:35 ET XXXXX

CAN'T KEEP HANDS OFF EACH OTHER

Hugs, kisses to the cheek, affectionate touching of the face, caressing of the back, grabbing of the arm, fingers to the neck, rubbing of the knees...

John Kerry and John Edwards can't keep their hands off each other!

In the past 48 hours, "candidate handling" has become the top buzz on the trail.

News photographers have been going wild with photos of the two Johns.

"I've been covering Washington and politics for 30 years. I can say I've never seen this much touching between two men, publicly," e-mailed one wire photographer.

When asked if the Johns are acting out a cynical focus group series of poses -- perhaps to show warmth to the chilly Bush/Cheney -- a Kerry spokesperson explained: "I think we're just seeing genuine affection between them."

But the spokesperson added, "I hope we do not see them wearing matching outfits when they ride bikes this weekend."

This pisses me off. I didn't expect Kerry to push so hard for the gay vote. I need to go back to the drawing board and formulate a response for Bushes campaign before it's too late!

That's a little disturbing.

It reminds me of this South Korean veterarian I met. He signed up for this program where you go hang out with english speakers in an effort to practice english. He and I would go to lunch, or golfing etc. We ended up being pretty good friends before he left.

One of the things that friends do in south korea is hug, or put your arm around your buddy etc. Well that didn't go over too well in Texas where people's sober comfort zones are about 2 feet. He kept walking RIGHT up next to me when we were going places with his family or whatnot.

One day I asked him why he was touchy towards people and the all of us learned a lesson in culture I suppose. Anyway I taught the nice safe male to male shoulder punch and handshake.

Well that was nice and tangential.

So you made him forget about his culture and assimilate him into yours?

Would you go to Korea and start punching people in the shoulder? I think not! Adex did him a favor. Well maybe...the phrase "when in Rome, do as the romans do" applies to everyone but americans.

Texas does have the 2 foot "don't touch me homo zone", I have seen it first hand. Of course Texas also had to pass a law and publicly post it stating not to carry fire arms within a certain distance of an establishment selling alchohol, something most other people would arrive at purely from common sense hehe. Not a slight on you Adex, just some personal observations I made while travelling through the pan handle.

Makes me laugh though, that even Drudge would post something this stupid. Whats funnier is that the homophobe fundies will tout this as an "issue" in their heads under their reasons to vote for Bush. This is the kind of thing I would expect to see in the Onion.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.

Yeah I saw this on his page, I thought it was stupid. No reason for Drudge to make something out of a little affection. He should stick to the issues.

it is part of the GOP tactic of pushing gay marriage into the forefront approaching the convention.

The Senate has 20 days left to get quite a few things done, and Republicans spent the better part of this afternoon talking about the gay marriage amendment, which has ZERO CHANCE of getting 67 votes.

It may have zero chance of passing, but what it does do is make people take a stand on the issue one way or the other. Sure many would like to ride it out and take opinion poll after opinion poll, but I for one would like to know where my canditate choices stand on issues such as this. I see nothing wrong with asking for it in this way either.

So did Minnesota,New Mexico,Arizona,Colorado,Iowa and I bet a large majority of states have passed that same law.

Wisconsin has more firearms per person than any other state in the union, at least it did last time I checked. We have no such law, and you certainly wont find posters reminding people posted in fucking applebees like restaraunts. The only place I have ever seen anything like this is in Texas. Otherstates might have the law, but they don't need big fucking signs at the entrance to their lunch stops to remind them not to pack heat near a bar. Not even in Minnesota.

Well, I guess the revalation that people from Minn are just as lacking in common sense as people in Texas doesn't suprise me. I never saw such postings in numerous visits to Minn or about 20 or so other states I have been to, other than Texas of course.

MN made some changes to the concealed carry laws in the last year or so.

The bank/bar/what have you doesn't need to post shit by law, but they do have to post a notice (and inform you personally.. what a joke) if they don't want you carrying weapons in their establishment.
