Problem with with comp

Post by Wonko Wenusberg »

Oooohkay, some weird things are happening in my computer.

1. I can't install any program, and I get an error msg with "etc et etc corrupt source file during any install.

2 Can't run Adaware because of the same problem as above.

3. I have Norton antivirus, and N antiV internet security with all the updates. Scans give me nothing.

I have an 8Mbit connection and I am currently downloading in 10kbyte/s.

Could it be sasser? But I have all updates from windows and norton.

it isn't sasser. sasser causes the lsass.exe system process to shut down and gives you a message that it will shurdown in 60 seconds. More than likely you have some other virii that is causing your problems, and the best way to remove them is with an updated dos-based virus scanner. Windows based virus removal tools often cannot fix the problem as the virii that need to be removed are in system memory and thus cannot be altered. YOu need to remove it from outside of windows(DOS). Other way you can remove the virii is to place your current infected hard drive as a secondary hard drive on a working system and scan and disinfect it from there.

Another way you can attempt to fix your problem is go to start menu, and run "msconfig". In the startup tab, remove everything except for NvCpl, NvMcTray, UpdReg, nwiz, CTHELPER, iaanotif, and anything related to your antivirus programs. If you don't have any of the above items I mentioned, don't worry about it. Worse comes to worst, you can always re-enable whatever you disabled, if something you disabled fucks up your computer. If you cannot even boot up after disabling something, simply boot up into Safe Mode and re-enable what you think may have caused it. Hope that helps.

Problem found, but not solved!

It wasn't anything wrong with the computer, but my ISP seems to have major problems at the moment.
This is resulting in a modem-speed connection and everything you download gets corrupted. Excellent!

Thanks for the help anyway, Sirs!

I thought all of Sweden was one big free wireless LAN... I guess Socialism isn't all it's cracked up to be! :(
War pickles men in a brine of disgust and dread.
